A question about the book "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman?

I'm supposed to read "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman for school. but i have no time to read it. So my question is, is the movie like the book? I will find time to read it if i absoulutely have to.

  1. The movie leaves out or modifies all the controversial theological material in the book, besides everything they had to leave out to make it cinematic and able to run in a reasonable amount of time. And making time to read the book, the whole series in fact, is worth it for your own sake as well as for the assignment. They're spectacular.


  2. I heard the movie was awful so I doubt it was a lot like the book anyway.

    I am trying to read the book still (only halfway), though it's not so interesting to be honest. But they say it's a "modern fantasy classic" so I wish to go on.

  3. Hardly. The movie sucked compared to the book.
