Question:

A question about the worlds biggest Aircraft?

Ok, so I know that the Ukrainian A-225 "Мрія", is the world's largest aircraft. But what would it take to get certified to fly one? How much pilots does it take to fly one? How much passengers can one fit? Or are they Cargo only?

This is for a project, so exact answers are largely appreciated.

Thanx.

  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-...

    lists two "operators"

    and links to them.

    Hope you can read Russian.

  2. To get certified, you would have to attend flight school in Ukraine, and get hired by the Antonov Airlines. They are the owner of the sole A225 (and the upcoming 2nd one, that is being reconditioned for service around fall of 2008).

Basically, it is owned by the Ukrainian space agency - so you'd also need government clearances.

It takes 1 pilot, and 1 copilot. The total crew is 6. It is a cargo plane only.

You can read about it here:

  3. For starters, the only An-225 in operation is owned by Air Foyle, a British company. To get certified in one you would probably have to have an International Civil Aviation Organization Fixed Wing Aircraft -Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument

Rating and Class Rating Multi-Engine Land License.

I could not find an exact phrase saying that that is the license required. I am guessing at it because the plane is used to ferry cargo INTERNATIONALLY. I would like to say that I can not gaurantee that it is the correct answer.

    Good luck on your project.
