A question about upgrading my PC?

I own a HP pavillion a620n and am wondeing if it is possible to uprgade my NVIDIA Geforce 5200 graphics card to a eVGA GeForce 8800GTS.

Unfortunately for you, it is not possible to use that card in your system.  There are essentially three types of video cards, those that use old PCI, those that use AGP, and those that use PCI-E.  PCI-E is the latest generation of expansions slots for graphics cards and is what all new higher end cards use.  You can still find some ok cards that use AGP, but no one makes new cards for AGP anymore.

    One more thing worth mentioning.  The slot in your PC is an AGP x8, which is the highest possible for AGP.  So, any AGP card should work just fine.

    The card you are looking at requires a PCI-E x16 slot to be used.  If you want to look for an AGP card to upgrade to, consider these:

    You can still get a decent card for AGP, but it may struggle with the most recent games / video editing software.  Hope that helps!
