A question about weight vs measurments!?

I am about average weight for my age and height, i am 9st 5, and 5'6, and age 28.

But my waist measurement is 35inches( i have a pot belly after having 2 kids).

I have been told that although i am normal weight, its bad for my health to have a high waist measurement, so i need to lose some inches off my stomach area.

So, i already eat healthy and exercise, but i do have a weakness for chocolate and lager. If i cut out the sweets and alcohol, will that take my waist measurements down enough, or do i have to do something else as well?

  1. I'm amazed that you have asked this even though you tuck into the beer and chocolate. And let me tell you that i don't condone................chocolate.

Do your best to cut out sugar (so yes, lager as aswell. My condolances), but a diet alone will not get your waist back. The answer is exercise. Terrible i know. Still, it doesn't have to mean that you need to join the gym with the other vain idiots. Start walking more, take the stairs instead of the lift. Just generally be more active. h**l, get a dog!

Remember, nobody gets fat having one Mcdonalds a month, it's all about moderation.

  2. Put some exercise in the mix and you will definitely see some results. Good news is that one of the 1st places you notice weight lose is in the stomach area. Having some sort of support group definitely helps keep up the motivation as well. Good luck!

  3. Dont cut out completely as you need to have some "comfort" things now and then but by all means cut back on them. Weight sounds ok for height and age, and although its really bad to be overweight and a proper porky bugger, its still not great just to have some excess belly, its the lesser of two evils. I was a proper porker, and with cutting out takeaways and eating heathily without going as far as jut eating lettuce and celery, combining that with 2-3 trips to the gym a week for an hour or so at a time, and I think most importantly eating breakfast, lunch and dinner (I always used to skip breakfast!) I'm getting into the shape I want to be in. I know gyms can be pricey, but try and get either a pay as you go gym or one that wont tie you into a 12month contract (i'm in a cracking one where I live in northampton called trilogy) and dont give up as easy as it is to stop doing/going you'll be a lot happier and healthier if you stick at it..... and send the beer and chocs you cut out to me!!
