Question:

A question about your personal religious epiphany ?

I've found that most people, myself included, can point to a single event, thought, or question that helped form their religious beliefs. For example, my few Christian friends talk about the first time they truly felt God in their lives, my Atheist friends talk about the first time they realized The Bible is just a book, etc.

I'm curious about the stories of the R&S crowd. What were your epiphanies?

  1. There were two.

Direct experience of "Living Water." impossible to describe since the scope of the experience was universal.

Being engulfed by the light... and for a time human breath ended and a Holy Breath sustained me. Also the experience is impossible to describe.

These two event gave me insight into the Kingdom Gospel, which is generally ignored these days. "Living Water" is the Gift of God that Christians have forgotten about. More on my bio.

  2. "Holy ****! The universe is 13.7 billion years old! The Bible when literally interpreted says it's less than 10,000 years old! But if Genesis is metaphorical, what else do I see as metaphoric- **** this, I'm agnostic."

  3. For me it was a long building series of events. The realization that there are fervent believers of every religion (and they all think that they are right) was the most repeated theme in my transition to the conclusion that there is no god.

  4. Mine is the realization that the bible is just a book, a fairytale.... and a contradicting fairytale at that. I first came to this conclusion when i was 10 and having scripture lessons... our teacher could not answer our very valid questions. As you grow up you realize that unless it was actually documented on the day then it all becomes a bunch of heresay. I have also noticed that the catholic religion changes the rules quite often, so i dont really get that. If its all about the bible then its all about the bible .... but it seems its all about the bible.... until someone writes a new one. I believe in God, Jesus, Mary ect ect.... but i dont believe in the magic, nor the bully tactics of the catholic religion.
