    Overusing the device (using an opening sentence) can lessen interest of the readers.

    If the reader will most likely have a negative answer, they will most likely not proceed reading because they already anticipate that they will disagree with the writer.

    Having the question asked before makes it a cliche and there is less interest.


  2. All of the above, and it is not recommended to open an essay with a question because if they say no your screwed. You should never open a historical essay or mainly any essay with a question.
