If the senate right now is democratic, how can you blame the ENTIRE oil problem on bush?

-Not saying he couldn't have done anything for the EIGHT YEARS he's been in office....which he could have ;)-

  1. Fair point, but you do have to keep in perspective, two years vs 8 all together, 5 of which he pretty much his party had control of both houses of Congress. And this Democratic controlled congress since 2006 has essentially been a do nothing Congress. Lets face it, they're all useless.

  2. bush is NOT to blame for gas prices

    -----------------------------------

    Peak Oil

    the Weak Dollar

and in the Short Term - speculators

    are whats to blame.

  3. An intelligent President (which he is NOT) could really have made changes. Unfortunately, most Republicans only know about how much money they can make, and have no idea how to help middle and poor class in this great United States of America.

Always remember this: Democrats are for the people.

Republicans are for the wealthy only. They could care less for poor people who have struggled to survive all their lives . Republicans are for those lazy people who sit at a desk all day in a comfortable air conditioned room and do nothing but buy and sell, invest or not invest. They are the lazy ones who get all the money while the poor garbage collectors slave all their  life and barely make a living.

I am sick of these lazy investors who do nothing but make money.

Bottom line: The hard working poor get screwed by Republicans.

And don't tell that old, worn out republican statement: "You could be on top too in you 'put your nose to the grind stone' and really tried to get to the top".

Remember this: Getting to the top is like trying to get to the top of a pyramid. There only so much room up there!

  4. you call a flimsy 1 vote advantage based on  "Liberman"   alliance  a decisive majority?  you must be  kidding. How many proposals has Bush killed so far?

-Not saying he couldn't have done anything for the EIGHT YEARS he's been in office....which he could have ;)-

    you answered yourself.

  5. Bush and the "big oil" companies have been going to congress to get permits to drill on their leased land, but the congress keeps denying the permits -- the democratically controlled congress, keeps denying the permits

  6. I've got a better one...

Why is foreign dependance on OIL a good thing?

Why is that the democratic response to everything that would give us independance, sides with the ENVIRONMENTALIST?

Why is the impact on the enviornment - always PLAYED UP?

It's comical... they say: The republican congress is to blame, yet their ENERGY LOBBYS and ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP lobbys - have had them vote AGAINST what's good for AMERICA.

And they want to CONTINUE down this road... I can prove it... in one word.... OBAMA.

If he is elected - this will be an OBAMA-NATION!

  7. The senate has only had a Democratic majority for the last 2 years and the problem with oil prices has been an ongoing problem. They can't get any legislation passed because they only have a slight majority in the Senate and they cannot get passed Bush's veto pen. They also have to deal with a record number of filabusters by the Republicans in the last 2 years.

  8. It is true that a lot of Democrats are angry at the Congress for doing very little to address some of the biggest problems of the Bush administration, specifically the price of oil and the War in Iraq.  With regard to the war, the Democrats have made some half-hearted attempts to limited funding, all of which have been blocked by the Republicans or vetoed by the President.  But honestly, they're not really trying and when push comes to shove, they cave in to every single Bush demand.  With regard to oil, the Congress has no idea what to do, so we really can't blame them for inaction.  When one is unsure of the proper solution, it is better to do nothing than to fire off some half-baked soution that will just make things worse.

But your general premise is correct, the Democratically-controlled Congress is not trying hard enough.  I'm not sure why, but it certainly explains why Congress's approval rating is something  like 9%...

  9. You have to give Gore credit, he has kept his promise to jack gasoline prices up to extortionary  levels, just like he promised the Sierra club he would do, win or lose, if they supported his bid for the White House.

  10. Hmm

Im goin to make this plain n simple.

Bush looks like a skunk monkey n i do not like him

    he is ugly.

i didnt like him nor his FAKE personality from the start.

i think he is a liar.

n i dont like republicans anyway.

there for. i blame bush for EVERYTHING that goes wrong in america

    ATLEAST im being honest..

n alot of ppl that dont think much about politics n dont do their research head str8 for bush aswell.

    so its not just me

the only good thing about him is that he is leaving in Jan. 09 :D

there for i kind of like bush now.

    Rofl

so yea. i blame him just because hes a t**d and its FUN :D

  11. You paint with a broad brush my friend.  Lots of people are to blame.

  12. i'm an independent, does that mean i can't answer this question? all very good, well thought answers. we had our first oil crisis with long lines and limited gas in 73. congress was dem. controlled then and continued to be until 94 mid term elections. none of them had any foresight to see this coming down the road. they talked about ethanol and electric cars back then but did nothing about encouraging it. gas at that time was under 30 cents a gal. so i fail to see how this becomes or is bush's fault. 2 yrs. ago when the dems. regained control of congress, gas was under $3 a gal. and they still did nothing. since 1954 cong. has been dem. controlled for 42 of the 56 yrs. and we've gotten higher taxes, more govt. give-away programs, deficits and on and on. bush is no more to blame for our current problems than you or i are. could he have done more, yes. could clinton and the inventor of the internet and environmentalisht al gore have done more, yes. there is more than enough blame to go around but who is suffering? the average hard working middle class working people of this great nation. it is time to stop the partisanship and look out for the people. i thought that was the reason we elected them but apparently i'm wrong.

  13. Didn't they just try to tax the oil companies on excessive profits but republicans didn't go along and bush promised to veto?

  14. I don't blame the oil problem all on Bush. I blame it on the entire system that caters to the oil industry.  Republican and democrat alike.  However, he does seem to have both hands in the cookie jar, so to speak.
