A question for Muslims?

Okay, is it a sin to purge after eating iftar when I break my fast in Ramadan?

Is it bad to have an eating disorder considering the fact I refuse to eat, yet I should constantly thank God for all the good things I have including lots of food? But it's a mental disorder right?

  1. why should you starve yourself in the first place

  2. Don't worry about "sin" - I think you should go see a physician (very soon) about that purging, it could literally kill you.

  3. as long as u break ur fast with any food or drink, its fine, u dont need to eat more if u dont want to....but like the first guy said, it is not healthy that u have an eating disorder

  4. Salaams,

The first issue here is your health, sister.  It is not healthy for your body or spirit to binge and purge.  There are healthier ways for you to control your weight, if it is actually a problem, but please get some professional help so you can determine if you even need to be losing weight.

Secondly, I am not sure if it's a sin, but "Allah loves not the wasteful" and eating food with the intention of purging it as soon as you can is bad, there are so many people out there with nothing for iftar at all.

Insha Allah sister, you will find a better, safer, and less wasteful way to be happy with your weight.

    And Ramadan Mubarak!
