I'm seriously thinking about becoming a Registered Nurse.

The first reason is: it's one of the most rewarding careers out there with the most openings, which requires A.A. degree. The second is, my personality matches with this career. I did some research on it so I know about its compensations, job duties, working hrs, benefits, and the subjects it involves. The subjects that are concerning me are Biology, Anatomy and Physiology. I'm not familiar with these 3 subjects. Once I tried to take “Genetics & Biotechnology in Society” because I was interested in this subject. It was a short-term-online class and I thought it was kind of hard for me & to top it off, it was fast-paced so I couldn’t keep up with it.

Now, I am even thinking about studying those 3 subjects really hard on my own before starting the degree.

So my question is: do you think I have a shot in Nursing?

  1. Absolutely!  I attended a university and got a BA in psych, then went back and got an associates in Nursing at a community college.  There was no biology.  It was a basic chemistry that was on a high school level.  Microbiology which wasn't much harder, and then A&P which is the toughest classes for nursing.  Suggest deciding where you want to go.  Go and get the syllabus usually its online.  Get the textbook and prepare.  If you are a real science type person suggest taking a warmup class like medical terminology.  Also suggest going for an LPN couse then work towards the RN.  This would be the easiest courseload and you will be making nursing money in only 1 years time.  LPN's in the area I live are in demand and make 28-32 dollars an hour
