A question for SEALs?

what rank would they put you if you passed the SEAL challenge program the first time, like right after you enlisted? (you know after boot camp/A school and everything) dont they move you up a couple of pay grades?

No, passing the Seal challenge doesn't promote you. If you want to go in as a higher rank, talk to your recruiter about your options, the highest you can be out of boot is E-3 but it's a significant pay raise from E-1. If you make it through BUD/S you will be promoted to E-4 regardless of your rank prior (you wouldn't be demoted though). If done right you can be an E-5 out of SQT when you get your trident.

Just like the sailor above me mentioned, E-4 automatically once you get through BUD/S. There are other rates that promote you to E-4 such as EOD, ND, Nukes rates, & few others.
