Question:

A question for all cheap tippers.?

I never understood this. If your bill is really low, why do you leave such a cheap tip? You've got the money to spare, obviously, so why not tip accordingly? ESPECIALLY those of you who get the soup, salad, and breadsticks at the Olive Garden? Did you know the server has to get all of that stuff for you themselves? It doesn't just come out of the kitchen like a REAL meal. So in the end, your server runs off her behind for your crappy $1 tip, when she did three times the work she had to do if you ordered real food.

Or what about those of you who decide to stay longer than fifteen minutes after you're done? You're a camper, and unless you tip extra (2-5 dollars more for every extra fifteen you sit) you need to move to the bar. That's THEIR table you're taking up that they could be using for another customer.

Oh, and 20% is the standard now. Not 15%.

Please don't answer if you're only going to respond with, "I tip really well." That's awesome, but the question is for cheapos.

  1. If they apply for the job then they are asking for it, no offence!

  2. I gladly tip servers like you like c**p. Why? You think you're entitled. You complain about customers not tipping you properly and all that c**p. You very well know there are people who tip you obscenely and others that don't. You're just greedy. Whine whine whine, I'm a manager and I deal with tons of employees just like you. Everyone could tip you $20 and you'd still complain. You're what's wrong with America, and why jobs are leaving. Learn to be satisfied, you're not going to get tipped enough to afford a doctor's lifestyle, so deal with it. Get a college degree, a teaching certificate, some sort of job you can get a better wage out of.

  3. no disrespect...but you applied for that job....so its your responsibility to cater to the guests...i understand your pain..i was a pizza delivery driver for all of my college years...it sucked!!!...i would drive in the snow and sleet..risking my life for a measley dollar tip on a thirty dollar order.

  4. i am not a cheapie....i usually tip about 20% sometimes more, sometimes less...but i resent servers who think a tip is a requirement. why not go to mc donalds? why not get a job that pays a real salary, where you don't have to depend on tips?

  5. A tip is just that a tip,  I hate how restaurants expect you to give one.  I am in the middle on tipping once I gave a $25 tip at ihop.  I tip according to my server.  If he/she is good then they get a good tip if not I most definitely do not give 20%.

  6. Someone please help my about this tipping thing? I take you want us to leave you money if you give us service? And if the hot food comes out hot, and the cold food cold? And you refill our drinks? Have a table for us? And friendly, with a great attitude?

Will one things that goes up my backside, is when my server come to my table takes my order and I never see them again until the bill comes, what’s up with that, and you want me to leaves this person a 20% to 25% tip, I’ll leave a good tip but to the person how takes care of my don’t to the person who takes my order and brings the bill.

So I say people tip your runners for they are the one doing the real work here.

You want that 20 - 25% show up with the food help clear the table and refill the drink. I hop I’m not asking for much?

    Ps

Please don’t come to work if you feel sick I don’t need you coughing all over my food.

And he wants to know why I left him a bad tip?

  7. I honestly don't think that most servers deserve 15% let alone 20%. That's why I don't tip that much. They actually have to do stuff and be friendly to get a good tip. I have a feeling you would be one that doesn't get a good one from me because of your attitude. Get another job if you don't make the money you want!

By the way, I did not justify myself. I was saying that if somebody had a bad attitude, they would get a bad tip. Another way to say that, if you don't understand, is that if you have a good attitute, you get a good tip:)

  8. You go girl!!! It's a neverending battle.

  9. EXACTLY.  That's why I think that the rule about percentage is dumb.  You should really have a general rule for somewhere like olive garden at $3-5 per person.  If it's a much more expensive restaurant, then you can tip percentage wise, but why penalize the wait staff for your desire to eat cheap at a service restaurant?

  10. The difference between a Canadian and a canoe is that a canoe tips once in a while........They are the cheapest people on the planet when it comes to tipping.

  11. I agree. Im tired of  the cheapos too ..its pretty simple really. If you dont want to tip a server go eat at McDonalds. If not have some class and leave what you are supposed to.. which is 20 %. Its called inflation! The cost of goods has gone up  over the years and so has the standard for service!

  12. It depends on how the service is. I pretty much just leave 15%, maybe more if they're trying. I disagree that it's "their table you're taking up." Honestly, you just sound like you're complaining. The customers are the reason you have a job. If you want a tip more than 15% you better be like asking the right questions. Refill when the drink is low. AND COMING MORE IS NOT BETTER. stop bothering the people man, we'll wave you down if we need something, just walk by and observe. If you keep asking me if I'm doing ok, i'll probably tip less.

and i was not aware there was a 'minimum' tip. If i'm getting breakfast and my meal is $5, I'm def not leaving you more than $1. All you're doing is carrying food, man, WTF.

and to the dude taking about being a pizza delivery driver... why do all these pizza companies charge delivery fees and still expect a decent tip? your company is s******g you. pizza prices are getting ridiculous.
