I'm a little bit confused, sorry if this question gets asked a lot.

I was wondering what you believed, if you have open minds about things, if you believe in evolution, etc. I know you don't believe in God

**curious**

  1. I will believe in anything that has physical proof, which is why I can't believe in God, who only has a book to prove himself.

  2. I believe there are a lot of unknowns in life and don't subscribe to any beliefs that assume too much. I believe a spiritual nature of sorts. There's lots to think about! It's awesome ^^

  3. There are lots of gods you don't believe in. I just go one step further and don't believe in any.  Otherwise, I imagine you and I have similar beliefs.

  4. If you know that, you technically know the basics of being an atheist. Anything else is just adding onto that.

Atheist is "not believing in God, a god, or even gods.  It's denying the very possibility, due to "scientific fact", as they like to use as an excuse.

  5. According to most history texts, (and yes from way back to a million years B.C.E.) People created religion. The earliest forms of religion were the polytheistic religions, then after that monotheism. I myself am pagan, however I do not take religion so seriously.

Paganism/Polytheism probably came along when people felt they needed help or guidance from another source of energy. Like the Earth for example, the Earth is precious, and it is necessary to protect it. Most religions (yes including the monotheistic) believe the Earth as something to protect.

From it we get fruit, and life. Yet we can not always get this? That's why people would probably make the Earth into deities. Because you're taking extreme care, respecting, and worshiping the thing that keeps you alive. Then came Akhenanton and Nefertiti. Akhenanton somewhat started monotheism by the worshiping of the sun god, named Aton. He encouraged his people to do the same and follow his example, making the sun god supreme. The Sun helps the Earth grow, maybe this is where Akhenanton got this idea.

Along with the gods and goddesses of nature, deities of emotions and situations in human life were idealized. Like deities that represented love, happiness, youth, etc. Going back to Akhenanton, the idea of monotheism probably began to grow after that. Then, people started do delve into more civilization. People controlled others with a strong government, which was linked arm in arm with religion.

Also, many people in Egypt revered themselves as a god, or someone to be worshipped. Then we go to the Christian story of Jesus. Hey, I never lived during that time, but I would never worship another human, nor can I believe a person by the name of Jesus existed. Over 39 different men wrote the bible, it was passed down orally before that, and it’s been translated into many languages. Numbers were greatly exaggerated, and much geography was incorrect.

There are questions to ask. At my school, religion class is required to pass. I do fine, though, and ask many questions, that Christians are too afraid to ask. “So if you say that Adam and Eve weren’t supposed to eat from the tree of knowledge, why would God make it in the first place?” They can’t say that their God didn’t create that, because according to the beliefs they’ve held on for all their lives, he created everything.

Then also, no matter what religion, people use their faith to hurt each other. People use it to control others in the name of their diety(ies). According to the bible, if people were “sinners” they were exterminated by the “great power and fury” of God. Hmmm…sin. Not all of these would be considered so bad if we had deities created by others for us “telling” us what to do.

One example is g*y and L*****n people. They love each other. Who are they hurting? No one, except an “all powerful” god who kills what he has created. Many Christian people believe that the main thing is to get married and have children and form a “domestic church”. Look at all these children in orphanages, foster homes, in poverty, on the streets. They need love and care. By having children, you are creating one more with the same needs. If everyone had children, the Earth would be bare. We already take more than we give back, so why overpopulate the problem?

Then people think they can hurt others by their lifestyles, using religion. Its THEIR life. It only concerns them and whomever they are with, and they’re happy. They’re the good kind of happy where you don’t need to hurt someone to feel happy.

Massacres have happened due to religious beliefs. This applies to all religions as well. Everyone has killed each other before.

Then we go to energy. "Energy can be neither created nor destroyed." Someone said that, I forget who. Energy forms the very simple inorganic atoms. Then they make chemicals, depending on how they cluster. Then these chemicals make inorganic compounds, and then organic compounds. Then we get autotrophs(make own food), and then we get heterotrophs(need food from different source).

The energy theory seems logical to many, including myself.

Personally, I am not the one to say weather or not dieties may or may not exist, all I know is I'm having fun with the concepts.

To me, there could never be a god as Christians describe because look at the sun. It has more energy or "power" than all our species. Same goes with black holes. Can they think? do they have emotions and deliberately go out of their way to kill or create people, no, they're too busy doing their own thing. These are among the ultimate forms of energy.

Sure were aware who we each are, but we need to have this for our own survival. Were easy prey to any other species with our soft skin and weak bones that could be snapped like carrots.

So if anyone asks, "why go athiest?" these are some reasons.

I have more. but i also have a life, and im getting bored typine. *yawns* bye.

  6. Evolution is a fact. We all evolved from lower life and there never was any god. Atheists have the one thing all religious people are searching for, the truth. The truth will set you free.

  7. I believe this section is going down the s*****r.

  8. I think we are damned lucky to be alive. It was chance, so be happy it happened here and that YOU are the one who was born from it...

just for anyone who is going to question that, its like asking the question 'what are the chances that YOU were born from your parents?'

the probability is low, but SOMEONE had to be born. just be thankful it was you.

  9. i dont believe in anything i accept things as fact such as evolution and gravity if proof was provided for god i would accept it too

  10. There really is nothing to be confused about.  Each person believes something slightly different.  Atheists are not a mass or a horde.  Atheists are individual thinkers who have come to their own conclusions about life and the universe.  Hopefully, their conclusions are based on the known facts of evolution.  Personally, I believe in the big bang theory, the concepts of evolution and individual responsbility.

  11. its no problem PEprincess, your entitled to ask, its not your fault its asked a lot

i believe in all kinds of things being possible, spiritually,

like, ghosts, afterlife, psychic abilities etc

i have quite an open mind on a lot of things yes

i beleive evolution yes, because of the evidence and logic and scientific reality and probability of this happening

    ;-)

  12. Well its curious to believe in a Omnipotent God..

  13. I believe in evolution, the Big Bang Theory, and the precepts of Buddha

  14. Look up the word "atheist" in the dictionary and read the definition. Atheists are exactly like everyone else, they simply do not believe that there is sufficient evidence to support the idea that a god or gods exist. They have ENTIRELY open minds about ANYTHING for which there is hard evidence.

  15. There are many things which I believe, they are all supported by evidence; I believe *in* nothing.

  16. all atheist believe different things, the one thing we 100% agree on is there is no god...

  17. Evolution is a fact.  Almost the only people who dispute it are fraudulent creationist leaders like the Discovery Institute, Kent Hovind and Duane Gish and the people who have been deliberately deceived by them.  Every shred of evidence that these people bring forward against evolution is either wrong or a deliberate lie.

  18. Atheism is a blanket term for anyone who doesn't believe in dieties. The rest of that is open to personal interpretation.

Personally, I am Buddhist. Our focus is enlightenment, not salvation.

Enlightenment comes from within, not from a god.

  19. I accept evolution as the way that life became diversified.

  20. I believe in evidence and logic.

I am very open to new ideas and concepts supported by evidence and logic.

I believe in evolution, the theory of gravity, and that the world is spherical. All three are proven scientific facts.

Not only do I not believe in any god, I am convinced there is no god.

  21. I was once a devout Catholic, until my mid-late teenage, when I realised that faith was based upon nothing but itself, and that ideas about particles/waves of matter/energy and forces interacting with each other in space-time in a finite, yet boundless, expanding universe, satisfied me as explanation about how nature works. And the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection is extremely impressive. There was no need for supernatural beings or God, which so complicated things that it was virtually certain they don't exist.

I've read the Bible several times right through and refer to it regularly, because it's one of my interests. I wouldn't claim to be anything like expert, but I do have a good knowledge of it. I've also read the Qu'ran, but can't claim anything like the same knowledge as I have of the Bible.

I'm interested in understanding why people believe deeply in things that seem to me to be clearly untrue. And I've been interested in religions, mythology, folklore, fairy tales and related matters since I was a child.

  22. Evolution isn't something to believe any more than gravity is.

  23. We like the rest of the planet accept fundaments of Biology

  24. I do not believe in anything. I accept the truth: evolution. I think for myself. I would like to consider myself open minded. I educate myself before having an opinion.

  25. I believe in all things provable

and in some things that are almost provable

  26. I understand and accept the Theory of Evolution, as do the majority of theists. That is because of my education and intelligence level, not because of my atheism.

My atheism is caused by the realization that there is no evidence for the existence of any gods.

I also believe in the goodness of humanity, that I am here to help sentient beings and the teachings of Buddhism.

  27. I believe in evolution, the big bang theory, newton's law, and other science laws and theories that have been proven by evaluation, testing, and research.

  28. They don't believe in anything except hatred for God and Reason.
