  1. OMG I remember this!

I did it in year 5 and 8! Wow I'd forgotten all about it!

Ummm I can't really remember much about the actual thing but I remeber we had to go up to a Uni or something and perform a play kind of thing...jeez......

    Haha hilarious!

  2. I was a T.O.M. judge in Australia about 10 years ago and know that it's still operating here. All entries come from teams submitted from schools and I don't think it would be possible to enter if your school was not a participant. One of my daughters was a team member and she had to attend many training sessions at school over a period of months where they worked on developing their creativity and teamworking skills.

It's a brilliant problem solving program for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. They are required to solve (very) demanding, open-ended challenges from one of 4 disciplines (Applied Technology, Language Literature, Maths Engineering and Social Science). Team members  need to be good, creative, imaginative and preferably lateral  thinkers. In Maths/Engineering and Applied Technology, my observations indicated that it is useful if at least one of the team members is good with his/her hands as structures often need to be built from not very much at all. Teams are set a long term challenge 6 weeks before competition and are expected to work on the challenge without any assistance from anyone (no help from teachers, parents or their peers). On the day, they must also meet a Spontaneous Challenge.
