A question for butchers?

Are there any butchers out there? I was wondering how common cancer is in other species. When butchering an animal and its organs do you often encounter tumours in its flesh and organs? And if you do encounter tumours from a particular animal is all the meat from that animal destroyed?

  1. My boyfriend is a butcher/meat cutter and he see tumors alot. In both cows and pigs he finds them mostly in the shoulders and the loins. I don't know if the tumors are destroyed, but they are cut away and discarded so that they aren't consumed.

  2. good question, i did some meat butchering, cancer usually effects organs, that arent used anyway. Plus the animals are usually killed very young, veal is a cow thats under a year old.
