What things that you wish your child's daycare would have that it doesn't. What do you think would make it better? What is it that you hate? What is that you love? What grabbed your attention when you saw the daycare for the first time? I'm planning to open my very own daycare in 2 years and I would like to know what parents like.

  1. well i have no kids but my aunt and my mom both ran their own home daycare my moms was nothing special i was young when she had one, there were about 8 of us..not much to to unless she'd take us to the park but my aunt re-did her whole basement bright fun colors and made a learning station and a play station and a nap area it was alot more exciting!!! and the kids actually wanted to go...so just make sure you have the time and money to put into the daycare if you really want the kids and parents to like it...hope that helps good luck!!

  2. video cams so you can se eyour child throughout the day and even video phone "skype" so you can talk to your baby/child.

  3. I would like a foot massage or a back rub when I drop my little boy off.  That would be tops. Most of the people that work at the day care we use now seem like they would surely be good at giving a massage of some sort, why not combine the two services and call the joint venture a "Parental Stress Relief Facility" ?

Add a martini bar if you want to get fancy.

  4. I love my daughters daycare.  When it came down to choosing between the daycares that I visited I went with the one she's at now because:

    1. Loved the people in the infant room.

    2. There is only 5 infants max to each room and they have 2 caretakers - one that is there from 6:30am to 3:00pm  and the other is there from 10am to 6:30pm. More individual attention.

    3. They require shoe covers in infant room because babies spend majority of time on the floor and also require hand washing your baby when you drop them off in the am.

    4. They have a great curriculum for both physical and intellectual development.

    5. They go on buggy rides outside.

    6. The room is pretty big with lots of colors and age appropriate toys.

    7. A webcam so I can check in on her when I miss her during the day.

The other daycares had some of the above but not all like the one she is at now.  It is considered a 5 star daycare.

I now am trying to teach my 7 1/2 month old to sign and everyone at the daycare is on board -  as they already are familiar with all the signs and are helping me with her.

I feel as if they treat her like family.  She is thriving there - always happy!!  Makes me happy!

For when she's older I would look for a nice, fun safe outdoor environment and also look at the food they provide.  In todays world with everyone being on a health kick I would offer special all natural organic meals also or at least healthier meals other than spagettios.  Just a thought to be different and up to date with current trends.

Good luck with your new venture!  You are starting off right by asking mom's their thoughts!  You're going to do great!

  5. Small groups.  Hate to see kids running around dirty, with snot dripping out their noses.  First impressions are everything, including the smell of the place.  Do the employees interact with the children or are they all huddled together talking and just "keeping an eye" on the children.  I also liked the centers that offered a full day or half day free to see if was a fit for my child.  Good luck.

  6. We really like our day care because the staff are very nice and knowledgeable, as should be expected.  They also have camera's in each room so if a problem arises, as parents, we can go back and see what happened.  Our day care also separates the children into categories: Babies, 1yr. room, toddlers, preschool, and school age kids.  They don't move your child because of age, but base it on their skill level.  We really love that.  The only thing I don't like is that they move their staff around.  My daughter will really start getting along with a staff and the next time we go in they have been moved to toddlers.  One more thing I like is that they have little "report cards" that go home everyday saying when they napped, when diapers were changed, bm or wet, and everything they ate.

  7. I like bright and colorful surroundings and lots of intellectual toys.   Also, good hand washing is important and general cleanliness.   You can tell which teachers love little kids and which ones are just doing it because they couldnt get any other job.   I don't like teachers with a bunch of tatoos showing and looking trashy.   Also, some of the teachers seemed a  littlle dumb.   One couldnt properly pronounce her "L" sound (she would day dawer like for dollar).
