Ok so I'm 12 and I have had all the signs and I know that I'm about to start my period in a few months. I've had discharge and all that stuff. But when do I have to wear tampons? I know that I'll have to wear them sometime but I really don't want to because I've heard of them hurting and being very uncomfortable. And how sometimes they even get stuck! I'm scared that they'll hurt or get stuck and that it will be very painful. I mean, I don't even get how you could squeeze one in! It sounds like it hurts a lot!

  1. Tampons are thin and they don't get stuck. And you shouldn't wear them until you start your period. You don't have to wear them except to go swimming anyway. When you start use pads and pantie liners at first. a period is different for every body some like tampons some don't

  2. Wearing  a tampon or a pad is a personal desicion. A lot of people suggest not starting to wear them until after a year, but it's up to u. I use cloth pads and menstrual cup. In my opinion, they are comfier (especially cute cloth pads.) I'd rather rinse my pads in the comfort of my bathroom or store them in a wetbag than leak onto my jeans. Before switching, I used tampons for 1 year, and pads for 4. Tampons don't hurt to insert, but they hurt to remove because they dry out your v****a and can cause vaginal/cervical ulcerations. I've never heard of a tampon get stuck. It hasn't happened to me or anyone I know. If you can't feel the string, just use your fingers to pull it out, no biggie. Honestly, I think there are way better alternatives to tampons/pads such as cloth pads and the lunette cup. Here are some links to decide for yourself.

  3. You don't have to wear tampons, you can start wearing them whenever you feel like it. They do NOT get stuck, so ignore whatever you heard from that person who told you that.

But stock up on pads, tampons, and midol.

Here's some stuff you may want to know:

    For Cramps:

    ~midol teen or midol

    ~pamprin

    ~bananas

~heating pad or hot water bottle

    ~hot bath

DO NOT DRINK SODAS--- it will make your cramps WORSE

Tampons: Use plastic, since you are just starting

~Playtex Sport ( don't hurt at all and are very comfortable(you can't even feel them))

    ~Playtex Gentle Glide

    ~Tampax Pearl

    Pads:

    ~Always

    ~Kotex

    ~etc.

    #1 thing you need:

Also give into your cravings, because if you don't it'll just p**s you off!

  4. You're 12, you still have a four year window for it to start.

And you really should not wear them until it starts. If you have discharge use panty liners..

Period Symptoms: Cramping, bloating, fatigue, mood swings, back aches, head aches, breast tenderness and of course spotting and blood discharge.

  5. they don't get stuck, that is why they have strings.

but, you only wear tampons when you are on your period. when you wear them and your not on your period its reaaally bad because it has bleach in it.

when you do get your period, don't use a tampon the first time, try your second period and the instructions are very thorough. just be very relaxed when you insert a tampon.

  6. u dont have to unless u go swimming. i started mine when i was 12 and i am 16 and started waring them  untell last month

  7. well u should wear the tampon as soon as the period start but surely not before that. i think because u seem so hesitant i think it might be better for you to use pads for the first few months then switching to tampons later on.

    Good Luck!

  8. nah. its usually best to start your period off by using pads for about the first year or so, that way you can get the feeling of what and how heavy your flow will be. as for tampons, when using them for the first time, you usually tend to tense up, because its something different. the process of putting one in is weird, so i would suggest Tampax Pearl, with an applicator. dont use a finger applicator until you have the hang of it. for your first time, use plastic, not cardboard, it will go in a lot easier. when you have a tampon in, you shouldnt be able to feel it, thats how you know you put it in correctly. as for getting stuck, the chances of that are very small. theres no such thing as getting "lost" if they get stuck, you just reach in and grab it. if it does, then it means your muscles are too tense. just relax.its scary the first time, believe me, and it takes a few tries. as for "squeezing" i find that the vaginal canal tends to be more open, because of the flow. good luck!
