  1. Well I got homeschooled because our school system here is like really bad ie drinking drugs it goes on in all schools but our school system doesn't care and I learned way more and grauated a year early.

  2. I homeschool my children because I feel that I can provide a better education than the public schools.  My oldest is advanced and has been since she started reading at 4.

We also choose to homeschool for religious reasons.  Our children socialize plenty, but we do not want the morals (or lack thereof) of the public schools taught to our children.

  3. I'm homeschooling because the public school wasn't getting me anywhere.

I could pass classes without learning anything.

So I would just go home and teach myself things that the school failed to do.

I get put into classes that I didn't sign up for and then get a huge withdrawal on my transcripts without even stepping into the classroom.

I also wasn't doing anything for third quarter that much because I got put into teacher's aid...so I got to walk around the school doing nothing or sleeping.

Also the teachers that taught AP were terrible at this school, so it was almost pointless to go.

I realized with homeschool there was so much more you can do. Instead of waiting until the next year to get your second credit on something, I could do it right now...so I decided to homeschool.  I am able to have a job, create a portfolio for the college I want to attend, help my parents, and learn all at the same time. There is a lot of valuable time.

  4. kinds are bullied in school is one. the public schools are the worst (middle school is the worst). Private schools cost to much. If you want to stretch it Collages except Home scholars more then they except public scholars.

    hope this helps

  5. Because I've seen the village and I don't want it raising my children.

  6. My mail reason for homeschooling is that we simply have better things to do with our time than spend it in public school.

There are too many opportunities outside of the classroom that we would have to give up.  Life is short and we like to enjoy it in our own way.

    Hope that helps :D

  7. I have not actually started homeschooling yet (my dd just turned 2 )but I am seriously considering it ...because of several reasons

    1)  I feel that she will be bored in "regular school"

she can count to at least 12, sings the entire ABC song,  knows several basic shapes and is getting better at color recognition everyday

    2) I think schools focus more on testing than actually teaching

it seems that teachers have to worry to much about getting the kids to test well for more funding for their school than actually make sure that ALL of there students understand what is being taught! plus all of the students are being taught the same stuff when some are not ready for it and others are well beyond it

    3) I feel I will really know who my children are

I will not just know how them seem to be when at home, because I will have more contact with them than parents who have not seen there children for 6-8 hrs while they were at a "regular school"

these are just a few of the reasons and I'm not even getting into the whole teachers and students "relationships" (and I am talking sexual, which seems to be going on like crazy here in Florida)

I just feel I may be able to keep my daughter more engaged and interested without getting as bored with the more conventional type schooling

  8. My parents figured they could do a better job than the failing public school system.  They also wanted to raise a close family where siblings and parents see each other more then two hours a night for dinner/TV.  As I grew older and took over most of my own education  I chose not to go to public school because it is a complete waste of time, does not socially mirror the 'real' world in any way, and would not allow me to focus on my music to the extent that I wanted.

  9. My parents shunned the idea of other people teaching their children because they wouldn't be able to monitor exactly what was being taught. Also, they didn't want us learn the qualities of other children in school who may (or may not, depending on how you look at it) have been taught by parents with a different value system.

Overall, it definitely had benefits, considering it turned out that we were more advanced than public school children at each grade level (my older brother had his BA by 18 years old). That could be due largely to the curriculum used.

It also had its downsides, such as lack of social development. I highly recommend that any parent homeschooling his/her children ensure that plenty of opportunities for social interaction are offered.

The reasons I could see a parent wanting to homeschool (I would consider it for my children) is because they want to offer a more hands-on approach to teaching and more focused attention. Also, if they want a child to learn at their own pace (whether faster or slower).

  10. We began homeschooling after a teacher at one school was so emotionally abuse that our then-eight year old became suicidal.  The next school had a kid who tried to murder our child.

All this in one of the top districts in the country.

  11. i'm starting home schooling next year. reasons? I've been going to school in Spain for 4 years now, and I'm fourteen so i couldn't get into a good english school in england now because there are always long waiting lists. So I'll be doing home schooling in England until sixth form probably, but my parents are also considering school in germany because i'm learning german.

I'm leaving spanish school next year because i'm not happy with the education:we have exams all the time and learn nothing

    hope this helped
