If my husband's truck has an 8 foot bed and I can only fit a kayak in the back if I angle it corner to corner, how long do you think the kayak is? P.S. I can't just measure the kayak because it's a friends and they are not going to be home till tomorrow and I need to know if I can fit it in my van by tonight so I can make other plans.

  1. Guessing that the truck bed is about 4 ft. across, that makes the diagonal just barely shorter than 9ft. I would say the kayak is no longer than 10ft for sure.

Alternatively, you could just measure the diagonal of your husbands truck and the diagonal of your van. If the truck diagonal is longer, you should be fine.

  2. Probably 9.5 ft (maybe 10ft depending on width of truck bed)

  3. Measure the width of the truck bed. Call it w. If the length of the kayak is L, it will just fit if L = sqrt(64 + w^2)
