I'm trying out for safety and next week is practice and I heard that were gonna run like heck. When you played for how long did you run? And also does the coach pick it's starters by how well they do in conditioning?

Thank you alot!

  1. I played high school football in the late 60's and early 70's and played cornerback and special teams.  The coaches used to put us through a very rigorous workout routine including a lot of running before we ever even practiced in pads to get us conditioned for the season.  We had to run stadiums, 40 yard wind sprints in full pads and of course a lot of drills.  Conditioning of course is very important in football and a coach wants everyone to be able to suck it up in the 4th quarter and have stamina.  The coaches pick their starters based on the players desire, ability, speed, aggressiveness and how well they listen.  Of course they want the very best at each position so they can win games.  I hope this helped you some.

  2. I played HS football all four years as free safety and cornerback.  You have to show what you got.  Don't worry about the runnung, just give it all you got.

    Good luck and God bless.
