I made this video of a 4 year old birthday. It contains a slideshow featuring not only the photos of the little Tadeo growing up but DV footage of his baptism, DV footage of his three year party,, ultrasound fragments when he was in his mother belly, the whole 4 yo party in HDV 24p, musical background with free royalty music. I stayed around 8 hours filming,I used around 150 min. of footage in HD mini DV tapes. I edited the whole thing in my Mac to 39 min. Three final copies in standard DVD plus Jewel cases. How much would be fine to charge?

  1. add up the prices of everything you bought for it.

    jewell cases dvds etc.

for the amount of time you spent filming and editing it.

go with what the general going rate is for jobs.

I'm 23, here in new zealand someone like me might get between 12 and 20 dollars an hour depending on the job.

so just think about how differcult the job was and decide from there.

    add it to the expenses

OR you could just make a nice even 100 dollars

  2. well you can choose a flat rate and add up all the expenses and a slight profit for you, or you can charge by the hour.

Also, next time, don't shoot 24p if you're just gonna transfer to DVD.  Its worthless since the rendering will fill in the remaining frames anyway and end up with a choppy look.

24p should only be used if you're going to print back to actual film.

  3. you may want to check w/

    http://www.finalvideoproduction.com/

add all the costs you incurred, compare and decide

  4. It depends on who its for. Is it a relative or an acquaintance??
