  1. And regards back to you from the middle of Missouri, USA!!  If I'm not mistaken, the simple way we define that word (nuance) here is:

It's not so much what you say, as how (and where and when) you say it.  The exact same word or phrase can be interpreted VERY differently based on these factors.

I could probably give you a better idea if I knew what it was you heard in Denver that caused you to ask this question, though.

Avere un buono giorno!  (Did I get that right?)  :-D

Edit:  Doing great here in Missouri, although I think I'd much rather be having your weather than ours (that's my idea of the perfect temperature anyway)--it's about 29.4 C (85 F) here today, which is much better than our usual August temperature of 37.7 (100 F) with 43.3 (110 F) heat index when humidity is figured.  And if your town is filled with American tourists today, I'm so sorry (I'm serious)--aren't we annoying?  Ha ha....(I'm kidding)  Glad you're having a good day in Florence!

  2. Nuances refer to small subtleties or differences.  You probably mean that your language is full of different dialects or accents.  OR "My language is very colorful."  That would mean your language is very expressive and descriptive or lively and nice to listen to or speak.

  3. Remember that nuances is a French word and we use it in exactly the same way for shades of meaning. Interestingly, we have also imported the Italian word "innuendo", having no such word of our own.

I'm sorry that I can't help over the second part of your question. I have never heard the expression before.

    Auguri a tutti in Firenze!
