A question on academic validity?

for my science project i did an experiment on plant growth compared to seed size.

i have to add a fact, statement or s observation referenced from a book, journal article study, etc. explaining the academic validity of my study.

i REALLY don't understand how to do this, it's supposed to probe that my experiment was carried out scientifically.

PLEASE HELPP!!!

  1. You are trying to prove that your study measured what it claimed to measure.  That is can your study actually determine if seed size related to plant growth.  This is an empirical study meaning your data consists of observations you made of plant growth.

    If you need to cite a reference for the validity of your study, the easiest thing to do is find several studies that used the same experimental.  These should be from peer reviewed journals.  If you can show other scientists using the same methods, then you can argue that it is a peer reviewed method generally accepted by the scientific community.

    Try searching HighWire Journals at www.sciencemag.org.  Also the university library will have numerous electronic databases with peer reviewed studies.
