1) How will, do or did you decide on the names of your children, by referencing baby name books or do/did you and your partner opt for a traditional family name, the name of a relative etc?

2) Further to that, my wife and I have been browsing names for a girl, she is adament that she wants the name "Cara", I want either "Krista" or "Trista", which of these three names do you personally prefer?

3) Don't you think in the case of a girl, the father should have the final say on the name?

  1. i've got one daughter, ophelie. it's a name of greek origin meaning helpfull, so that's positive. but we really picked her name simply because we liked the sound of it and in spite of shakepeare's character ;-)

i like the sound of all 3 names you consider, but trista makes me think of "triste" which is french for "sad" so i wouldn't pick that one.

i think both mother and father should agree on the name, so i hope you'll come to a common choise

    good luck!

  2. Keep all three names in mind and the moment you see the baby the first time you will know which one is the right name.  That's what we did and the name which we both liked most, wouldn't have been the right name for my daughter at all.

My first choice would also be Cara but I would make peace with Krista, but Trista wouldn't be an option.

No one should have the final say about the name, you should compromise and try NOT to be stubborn and insist on your choice.

  3. Hey Bull , are you guys having another child? , Congrats...

We looked in many books and sites , etc but nothing really appealed to us , one day while going to work , a name just popped into my head , told my Gf , she also liked it and thats how my daughter was named...

I like Krista , Trista and Cara are quite common names.

It should be a name that the both of you like though...

  4. We first studied books, and then when the children were born, both girls, the first name that came to my mind was THE one.

I like all three names, but I think Cara is the best.

And congrats on the new addition.

  5. Ag no man Bull, Krista is not a good name, Trista means sadness, Cara is Italian for Dearest. I like Cara the best. Krista sounds like a fat old lady with a bun. A name is very important, I like Cara, nice soft name for a little girl. Cara Mia = my dearest

  6. 1) I don't have kids yet. But my parents chose my name from baby name books =)

My name is MANDY and I love it. I hate my real name amanda. But if you pick a name of a relative and don't have another kid it MAY make the other relatives jealous. Like if you named the kid after YOUR mom and not your wife's mom's name. Your wife's mom may feel a tad jealous. My parents personally avoided this. Both of my grandma's wanted ME named after them. Just pick a name you BOTH like. =) With my sister, my parents originally planned on naming her Nicole, but when my sister was born they felt Robin fit her better. Also, I'd avoid naming a kid in which they could be teased easily. Like Tucker or Nick.. they both ryhme with a mean word.. and may get teased for it later.

    2) I don't really like any of those names. But I'd perfer Krista. [Kristy is a cute nickname =) ]

    Cara 2nd.

    And Trista last...

3)Uh.. the name is NOT the father's final say alone. You BOTH made this baby and BOTH plan to parent it, so you should both have a final say and AGREE. She's the one who has to give BIRTH to it, and experience pregnancy...

    I hope I helped!

    GOOD LUCK =)

  7. Well I have no hand any children yet..... thank goodness! hehe

    1) My mother had taken the name Natasha which he liked and played around with the letters and made my name from it. (Tashana) a while after I was born she then realised it was actually a proper name but it was hardly known and used.

    2) I like the name Cara and Krista - Cara because pretty and it's my cousins name. Krista because it's very pretty and unusual. My prefer Krista I think.

    3) I think it is very important to have the father at least agree on the name but you both should have the final say. My dad is one of these men who is not sure how to cope with all baby stuff and with names he could never choose. Therefore, my mom took charged and had the final say on all 5 of us kids!

  8. My daughter's name is Clarice and only once she was born and we told people did they bring in the reference to Silence of the Lambs with agent Clarice Starling! LOL.

We looked up at Babynames.com and some names books.

    I like Krista

  9. i'm going to name my kid starbucks. and i like krista

  10. 1.  Dont have children

    2.  I would go with "Kara" (nice inbetween name?)

    3.  Do men have any say after marriage?
