alright so, back to school outfits, i see people splurge hundreds of dollars on BRAND NEW CLOTHES. what happens to your old clothes? i mean sure, new clothes for sure, you know i couple tops, jeans, winter clothes. But some people buy like 20 shirts, 10 pairs of jeans, 6 coats, 8 pairs of shoes, 8 sweaters, etc etc. and thats actually really little.

so what's up with that? why do people need a whole new wardrobe? is it because you dont buy clothes during the year? cause then that would make sense....

  1. It's just that I love shopping! I'm by no means a spoiled brat, but my parents don't mind spending money for clothing on me. I'm a good girl in general for my age (15) and I don't do half the stupid things people my age do, and they don't mind taking me shopping. I buy a couple of jeans, new shoes, shirts, t-shirts, sweaters...everything really. I spend maybe 500$---? And I go shopping 2-3 times a month after that. I just keep my old school for later on in the year. I hope I don't sound like a brat, but it's just the way I am.

    :)

  2. My mom gave me $100 for BTS. I have about $60 myself.

And I GUARENTEE I'll be the best dressed at school.

    Two Words:

    THRIFT. STORE.

EDIT: I agree. I usually only buy a few items at the beginning of school. (Some shirts, new shoes, a jacket, etc.) and then I buy more stuff throughout the year.

People change during the year. Maybe you LOVED your Hollister jacket in September, but you end up HATING it in June. I would hate to blow $800 on stuff I won't like anymore.

  3. I grew and now have 2 pairs of pants and 10 shirts that fit.. And my mom still wont let me go shopping! I cant help but be jealous of the people youre asking about, I get nothing. And its not like my family is poor, my moms just cheap.

  4. Some people like to start a WHOLE NEW style, others grow out of their clothes, and some poeple are just plain spoiled brats that demand all brand new clothes.

When I was a little kid my mom spoiled me, I'll admit. She would spend hundreds of dollars on new clothes. But once I got into high school I would just buy some new things and mix and match with the older stuff in my closet. Because I still love a lot of my old stuff so why should it go to waste, you know?

But now I'm in college and I got my own job, I couldn't spend hundreds of dollars on a new wardrobe even if i WANTED to lol I work at wendys...which sucks! lol

  5. I have no idea why some people do that. or how they AFFORD to to that. I just buy clothes for when I need them- you never know if you're going to grow or gaine/lose weight.

  6. I totally agree. I just by a couple things for back-to-school. Like this year I only bought 2 tops, a sweater, and a pair of shoes. I buy clothes throughout the whole year and find it stupid to buy a whole bunch of clothes for back-to-school.

  7. well i wear uniforms to school =_=. but i would buy some new cloths for each month. so that i wouldn't spend so much before school.

  8. i think it's just marketing and advertising. they're saying they NEED new shirts and they NEED new shoes.

this year i needed jeans and shirts because i just went throught this huge growth spurt. my smaller clothes go to my sister because she actually wants them. and i don't see how people can spend a whole bunch of money on abercrombie and AE to buy a shirt for freakin 20 dollars!!! go to ross they're like 5 dollars for a nice shirt and yes they do have nice clothes.

it's also like that with school supplies. half of the stuff they say you need you don't really need. i got a binder, notebooks, pencils, and paper...and used the stuff from last year too that they said i 'needed'

so i agree with you on that. It's pretty unbelievable!

  9. i agree i mean a few tops some jeans a new coat thats fine but a whole new wardrobe is kinda dumb

  10. you have to buy new clothes wen you go back to school im going into highschool and i spent 600 and i still need more stuff, even though i have my old clothes.

  11. maybe they just can afford it and like to make use of this occasion to get some more clothes they like.

but sure, it's ok to use clothes that are not recently bought and combine them with the new ones.
