On friday is suffered a misscarriage. I went to my doctor on Friday morning(8.30am) as i was bleeding and cramping and asked them to take my blood to check my HCG levels as i had a positive test that morning. They said that there was no point because the hospital would take it. I went to EPAU( early pregnancy assesment unit). They did scans and couldnt see anything. At 12 they took my blood to test my levels. I was supposed to go back for another blood test Sunday to check them again. The nurse phoned me later on Fri pm and said that my levels were just above 1 so i had misscarried and there was no point comin in for further blood tests. At 4weeks6days i expected my levels to be quite high and was shocked when she said it was 1. is this possible? has anyone else had this happen before? Can i ask my doctor to monitor my HCG levels next time i get pregnant? it would be handy if there was a finger prick test that i could do to check my levels as i am a pain to get blood from and always end up with brilliant bruises all over when i get blood taken!

sorry for the essay!

  1. I went through almost the same thing.  I was 5 weeks and started to bleed, went to the Dr. on Monday and my HCG was 30.  I went back for a test on Friday and it was 1.  You probably had a "missed miscarriage" where you actualy miscarried earlier than you think.  You probably miscaried the week before but your body didn't react until then.

Yes, if you have a good dr. the next time you get pregnant, ask the dr. to monitor your HCG levels. They should do it for you considering you m/c once before.

    Good luck!

  2. I miscarried August 10 and I was just 6wks and my hcg level still says I am pregnant. U can go to the doctor and have them check it. Maybe its a 1 point down. I dont think its 1.
