A question regarding my cats visit to the vet?

Alright well we took my cat skyeway into the vet today because she had an open wound that was bleeding on her front leg. Since the injury was pretty bad she has to be sedated and needed the wound to be cleaned for infections. However, when we were able to take skyeway home, they did not bandage her up because the nurse said her leg had to be drained. Although, her leg hasn't fully stopped bleeding.

In my opinion she needs to be bandage because it seems like shes loosing blood? I'm not a professional so i don't know. But what are your opinions?

  1. If it needed to drain, they could put a tube in it and stitch the rest up, so the fluid has somewhere to drain. They've left the cat's leg open and at risk to infection.

That place sounds inadequate, and I would say your cat's health is worth a trip to a different veterinarian for another opinion.

  2. I'd take it to another vet, as it doesn't sound good to me either.  You don't say how she was injured, if it's a gaping wound and if they put a stint in it to drain.

That said, I would definately take her to another vet (to heck with the price, as their health is priceless).

    Poor baby.

  3. The vet I worked for would have stitched the wound if it was really deep. If he left it open, he would have put a drain tube and then bandaged the leg. I don't understand why they didn't do stitches or bandages, because now the cat can l**k the wound and still cause an infection. If it looks worse tomorrow I would call them again and tell them that your cat will not leave it alone.

Well, if your cat has an E collar  that will help. Mine would never keep it on and I tied it tight. She's a little escape artist. lol
