  1. Because most people in the Biz are Democrats.

  2. Not being a Republican, but a true conservative, I'll give you an answer; there's no such thing as "political popularity". People hate politicians. They see them spending our money on idiotic wars, NOT spending it on trying to find Bin Laden, and they see Obama weaving his own cult of personality; of course he's a celebrity. Ask many what Obama stands for and they couldn't tell you. They just know he's handsome and well spoken. Politicians are none of these things; you can see the silver glinting on their tongues when they speak. You can see their pockets bulging with ill-gotten gains (both parties). It's not political popularity. Of course it's celebrity, and Obama isn't the first one to have it. There was Bill Clinton, invulnerable politically despite his depravity. Kennedy, who had more chicks than a poultry farm, and FDR, who had b***s the size of cantaloupes and was justly famous for it, as well as for his Fireside Chats, which kept Americans hopeful during the war. Of course they were celebrities. Aside from everything else.

  3. They're jealous that the Democratic process is getting more attention from the media....even by Fox News.....

Although they should be happy because if it were centered on McCain, we'd see the King of Hypocrisy in his entirety and they'd have they're work cut out for themselves trying to defend him.

  4. Believe it or not they are really the same thing during an election year, no matter which candidate you are talking about. Unfortunately a great many people in this country do not really know what their candidate stands for, what his voting record is, etc. Instead they vote based on a few tag-lines. What amuses me though is that so many think it is a viable replacement for talking about actual issues of consequence. I don't really classify Obama as a celebrity p***e, but rather as a "Cult of Personality". This is because too many who support him do so based on promises of "hope and change" and never bother to examine his character and campaign with a critical eye.

  5. It's called Republican Politics.. AVOID the issues and and side track by making up fabrications..

  6. Ah...ask a 19-24 year old what they like about Obama and their answers are typically he's cool, talks well and he's cute.  Well, I guess they are use to voting for American Idol and expect that's what this whole thing is about.

  7. Resentment. Bush is the worst prez in history, the whole world HATES him, he has poured gasoline on the fire of terrorist activity - and along comes Obama. Charismatic, intelligent, likable.

It really gets under their skin!

  8. I'd say it's probibly the opposite side of the coin as when Dems try to translate "celebrity" into "substance"!!

  9. Because that is all OBabmas supporters can understand. Most of them only have an IQ of 80 and know what Celebrity means.

  10. It's really difficult for them to counter the dems this time around. In fact, it's difficult for them to counter any party, because Bush has been such a monumental failure as president, and they are all very aware of it. What better reason to go on the defensive? They resort to tactics that have no substance, such as calling Obama a celebrity, or drawing attention to the fact that he didn't have a flag on his lapel that one time, or spreading rumors that he is a Muslim, when in fact that wouldn't even matter since the constitution does not stipulate which religious affiliation one must have to become president. I have a lot of republican friends who are very well off, and I can understand them voting republican- in fact, it really doesn't matter who takes the white house for them, because they simply won't be affected. What I can't understand, however, is how the average, run of the mill American can vote republican AGAIN, after seeing what has transpired in the last two consecutive republican administrations- that defies all logic!

  11. Because to them having the worst approval rating in modern history by Bush is success.

  12. It's a pretty simple comparison, and fairly accurate.

Paris Hilton has done nothing, with the exception of a couple of homemade p**n movies, to deserve her celebrity. It was given to her.

Britney Spears became a celebrity based on a couple teen pop songs, and then grew out of it.

Hussein Obama was a lawyer for the mob, and then a community organizer, and then a state senator, and then a US senator, and is now running for president. All of this accomplished because of his skin color. He was never a stand out in any of these positions, and so his promotions were undeserved.

So, "political popularity" equals moving up because of perfect hair (John Edwards), pedigree (Kennedy/ Clinton), or skin color (Duh-bama)... none of these people have contributed anything to the betterment of the nation.

  13. Afraid of  liberal?  LOL...that's rich.   We don't spin anything.  When the political popularity is as empty as Odumber, we naturally associate it with celebrities who tend to be empty as well.

  14. Have you ever seen the way Obama swaggers when he walks into a room? He thinks he is a celebrity. Well, I guess he is. You must be ashamed of his celebrity. It's OK, he will be in obscurity after November.

  15. Becuase we try not to use big words around liberals, for instance, take peters post. He cant seem to understand that the lowest approval rating in history is by the "peoples Liberal congress" Led by Pelosi right now at 9%, or Carter/Nixon

  16. Actually, the better question is whether or not the average Democrat-on-the-street actually knows anything at all about Obama's policies and politics.

The answer to that determines whether Obama is "politically popular" as you seem to believe, or merely "popular", and hence a "celebrity".  If we knew the answer to that, we'd be "spin-proof" on that question.

The Man-in-the street interviews I've seen, and the letters to the editor, and the posts on this board suggest that his supporters do not know anything about Obama that can't be known by looking at him, and looking at polls.  That suggests it's mostly "celebrity".

Prove me wrong. Show me some substance, and more than just substance, show me that his supporters are aware of this substance.

I doubt you can do either, otherwise you wouldn't be defending his "political popularity" against a charge of being a "celebrity" without presenting some substantive facts.

By the way, I DO know some substantive facts about Obama.  They suggest that he is all "celebrity", since they aren't particularly favorable politically.

  17. because celebrities are hollow just like barak obama

no republicans will be afraid to answer this question hahaha good try though

  18. Because when it comes to Obama it's true... there hasn't been ANY candidate that has been shown like he has in a celebrity like way... the only thing he is missing is the groupies...

  19. I'm quaking in fear!

I don't have problem with either, nor do I spin either.  Both are shallow and show little of substance.

Are you a bit defensive about your guy?  Hmmm...

  20. Jealousy. Some people can't handle the management of a proper defense when they are hated by most of the country. If he can't handle pressure from citizens then he can't handle being President of the United States.

  21. It is important to realize that celebrity or political popularity does not equal readiness to lead the country.  The Republicans are trying to point out the American public that being popular (or being a celebrity) is not a replacement for good sound policy.  If you ask many citizens of why they like Obama they will say change or an answer very close.  Do they know his real policies or agenda for America.  He is a great speaker and has unequalled motivational speaking talent.  (but to that point so did Hitler.  Trust me that is the only comparison I will make between those two.  Hitler was a horrible human being, but he certainly united a country and convinced them to do horrible things!  I in no way think Obama is anything like Hitler in any way.  Don't read further into my comparison)

Anwyay, it is true that th media has it's own agenda and heavily supports Obama. (you could see it in the run against Hillary)  So, the Republicans have to try to get short soundbites to get some attention.  By the way, I am Independent and still have no idea who I am voting for.

Is political popularity a bad thing? No, but you have to ask yourself why is he popular?  Personality or Policy.  I think we know that answer!

    So,

  22. Showing up to see the candidate who represents the issues you support is "popularity."

Showing up to see the candidate who is throwing a rock concert or fainting at the mere sight of him and not having a clue what he stands for is "celebrity."

  23. If you've been alive for the past two months and know that Obama has really no plan for overseas business you would know why we only call him a celebrity.

  24. I will tell you what I think the American people want. They want somebody who is not a novice. Somebody who is willing not to be a celebrity, somebody who is willing to roll up their sleeves, go to work and make this country better. And I think that's what the issue is and if Barack Obama has kind of been dancing with the stars all the way through this process, really hasn't shown that he has done anything.

  25. First of all he does not have "Political Popularity". Most of the Obama Kool aid drinkers know nothing about Obama. They talk about change, but when you ask them what kind of change all they can say is "you know change."The things he calls change are not change at all. They are nothing but a return to the old failed policies of the democrats.  People compare him to JFK when a more accurate comparison would be to Jimmy Carter. His so called changes are the same things that the old peanut farmer tried back in the 70's and that failed. They brought about high inflation and lots of unemployment.

The other Obama kool aid drinkers simply like him because he looks good, he is young, he looks cool...lol

This country will be sooooooooo divided if Barrack Carter is elected and will no longer be number one or even close to it.

  26. Because Republicans associate celebrity with Hollywood, which they've already written off as anti-American. So if McCain can make that association stick, then, as usual, there's no obligation to investigate the truth... the determinations about Obama can simply be hinged to a stereotype that Republicans have already bought into.

It's mindless of course. And a sad reflection on America generally.

  27. I could care less about political popularity or being a celebrity. I care about these crooked politicians following the Constitution. So I don't know where you get that only "Republicans" care about this.
