A question that has nothing to do with Tiger Woods talking about hockey?

Since that horse died long ago, here's a question - What do you think of the concerns that have been raised recently about the difficulty of promoting players because they all "look the same" with their playoff beards?

I've heard it discussed a few times in these playoffs, and I'm just wondering what others think.

  1. Holy vanity...I'm pretty sure you have months of regular play to figure out who they are.  Or eyes, eyes help, too.

  2. Well..I guess that fact is mute because how can you promote football players since they wear helmets. Is there more famous guys then Brady or Manning right now?The fans know who the great players are..If people are watching tonight. The guy who can't grow his beard is Crosby.Maybe if Steinbrenner buys the Rags maybe he can put the shaving in their contract.

The Dead tiger is because with the Finals winding down alot of fans from other teams like talking about something.I was only having fun in golf.Craig you know at least 3 times a day the steriod question comes up in baseball.Thats a dead horse question.

  3. I haven't heard these concerns, but I have to say, at this point, who cares if you can't promote players?  Hockey is a team game... not an individual game... Let's say Crosby is on a team with no support, he's not gonna win... no way jose.

Promoting players is not how the NHL should try to get media's attention... it's just wrong... thats why I don't like VS cuz thats all they do...

Joe-- Ozzie can't grow one either... I don't think he's ever used a razor haha...

  4. they don't all look the same though

hockey isn't the new york yankees

no hockey player is ever going to shave his playoff beard until he is eliminated from the playoffs, or wins the stanley cup.

if that ever does happen, it will be a disgrace to the game

playoff beards are just as much of the game as sticks are

and talking about the never touching the conference trophy, ottawa did that last year, alfredsson put his arm around it or something, or held on to it during the picture, then the senators got spanked in 5 games, i'm pretty sure the ducks lost one on purpose so they could win at home, otherwise it would've been a sweep

  5. It's a team game. At this point I doubt if any of the players care and will probably tell their agents to convey the same.

    *** probably the later.

  6. It's a non-issue. Players are promoted during the regular season just fine. Their stock photos are shown on NBC and Vs. and most hockey players are pretty boys. Should be a problem.

Can't buck the tradition of the beard just like no one touches the conference cups.

  7. Beerslayer is right - this is a team game, so provided they can tell each other apart, should it matter?

By Sunday at the latest most of them will be getting a shave anyway.

Who's having a go at another of the funny traditions in the NHL - first it was the octopus, now the invasion of the orange beards?

Since I can't grow a satisfactory beard, are they (whoever they are) going to try to stop me from my commitment to wear red till the Cup is awarded?
