Question:

A question to auto insurance agents...?

I park my car in my condo's parking garage with deeded/assigned spaces. The guy who parks next to me dinged my car numerous times getting in/out of his vehicle. He admitted fault and filed a claim w/ his insurance company. The adjuster from his company just came today and agrees that all the damage on my vehicle was their clients fault and found 25 seperate dings that need to be repaired.

I took my car to Maaco and got an estimate and they are say $2,300. However, I have a feeling my neighbor's insurance company is going to try and cut corners while having my vehicle repaired saying they can "patch" most of the dents without repainting the entire car, whereas, Maaco says they have to take the car apart, fix it, and repaint it.

If his insurance company does try and cut corners, how should I proceed? Can I get my insurance agent to argue on my behalf? How does a situation like this usually work? Thanks

  1. Twenty five dings? On ONE panel?? Gimmie a break -- there is no way possible that the other person dinged and dented your car along the entire length. Here's a news flash: Maaco is the crappiest collision repairer in the world. Of course they are telling you it needs to be painted all over -- it's the only way THEY can match paint. Ask around for some names of QUALITY collision repairers near you. Despite what most people think automotive paint can be matched almost perfectly and since you are driving a four year old vehicle the paint finish si also four years old so you are not entitled to a complete refinish. If you still think you're being ripped off just tape some plywood onto your doors for God's sake.

    Sheeeeze......

  2. For automobile insurance the obvious way to get a good quote is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you choose similar options with the same deductibles, car type, zip code, etc so that all options are a good comparison.

What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have big name insurers and can give several quotes on car insurance polices.

  3. Of course Maaco is going to tell you that you need your whole car repainted. Maaco is in the business of making money. Insurance companies are in the business of paying what their insured is legally liable for.

If the insurance company writes an estimate for repairs, they will provide you with a shop in your area that can repair the vehicle for that amount.  The insurance company is not going to pay to have your entire car repainted. And more than likely, the estimate will be written for PDR (paintless dent removal) where the shop basically pops the dents out.

If you are unhappy w/ the estimate from this persons company, you could file a claim w/ your carrier.  Things to keep in mind though,

    1. If there are 25 dents, you will have to make 25 claims, each one subject to a deductible.

    2. Pretty sure your company and the other company will have similar estimates.

    3. Your company is also NOT going to have your entire car repainted.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but its the truth

  4. YOu are not the only one,I have met this type of  problem before.I have good experience here to solve the problem though.http://car-insurance.online-helpers.info...
