A questions for modern day witches..?

Where o modern day witches get their magic from, I heard there are alot of modern day withces living in salem, I was wondering can anyone become a witch or do you have to be born with special powers?

Witchcraft is a foolish path that was created by fools for fools. They spell the word magic with a k because they think it's something special, they literally use the power of divinity for their own benefit and manipulate the forces of nature by calling all of these powers into a "circle." No offense but it's true. Witchcraft is absolutely pointless because there are many more simpler ways to bring your desires into fruition. You either ask the Gods or you use the law of attraction. It's really not hard. Witchcraft just glamorizes it all. It's always been that simple. Witchcraft isn't even relevant anymore because it's obviously just divinity or your thoughts that  bring your needs into fruition, not witchcraft. It's always been that simple. I have to say, Witchcraft isn't even necessary.

Well, the answer it's not that simple. You won't find out the truth about "modern witches" (wiccans is the appropriate term)by asking a simple question on Yahoo :P.

You should start doing some research on your own. Wiccan_2007 gave you a pretty good starting point. But, this is not the whole picture.

You will find out some interesting things about wicca, if you really want the mysteries to be revealed for you.

I would have to agree with the people above. There are witches everywhere, and not all of them practice the same. There is energy all around us and you can tune in to it. I don't believe that you are "born" a witch, but i do think that there are people that are born more "open" to these things. It's like levels, you can start from the bottom and learn how to move up in levels of consciousness, the more open you are the more you will be able to tune in to these energies :)

The energy we use is natural. it's all around us. To use it in spellwork takes study and practice. True. There are witches in Salem. There are witches in San Diego, Winnipeg, Athens, and Sydney. In fact, there are witches everywhere there are humans. Where you live isn't a factor, per se. The only benefit to one location over another is that there are certain places where more witches happen to live. That can be a benefit if you want to learn the Craft. Check witchvox to see if there are any teaching covens near you. Be advised that this isn't childsplay or the nonsense you see in the movies. Studying to become proficient in witchcraft is serious business and will take a serious commitment. Training takes time and energy. It won't be wasted on someone who fools around or wants to look "kewl". As a rule,  covens won't accept anyone under the age of 18 without their parents permission.

"Modern Day Witches" get their magick from the energy of the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water. They work with the God and Goddess to raise this energy. They also get the magick from inside themselves. Witches cannot turn people into frogs, levitate, move objects from here to there.

You dont have to be born with this magickal knowledge, there are a number of resources available to learn from. Books, your local metaphysical store, there are Covens out there that may be interested in teaching you if your serious about learning.

The internet is also a fountain of information.  

I suggest you read as much as you can. And dont try to practice until you understand.
