Question:

A quick question about LSD?

I was reading about LSD, and people say you will never be the same. That leaves a BIG gap. For instance, could I be insane? Or will I have no ego? Please specify, and give examples.

Answers that say "Drugs or bad" or "Don't do drugs" will be reported for spam.

Thanks.

  1. i think benthere says it best, especially someone who's speaking from personal experience.

ive never heard of anyone going "insane" from acid, although i have heard of people "frying" their brain, and esentially dropping acid until they are, quite literally, retarded. i volunteered at a r****d day-care center once, and the guy who was in the worst shape there was the guy who got fried on acid.

but dont misunderstand my position on cid.  i think it's a great thing, and my friend did it, and said he will never be the same again.  he said it changes who you are, and how you look at things. you understand things about the way the universe works, about who you really are, about your interactions with other people, and he said basically theres no way to understand these things until you do it. loosely put, its like having a conversation with god, and he takes off the back cover of the computer of life and shows you a little bit about how it works.  you better understand connections and interactions between people, animals, and inanimate objects. (again, this is his experience.  i have yet to try it and look forward to the day).

again, ive never heard of insanity, but i have heard of something called "loss of ego", or loss of identity.  its very hard to explain, and i've done a little bit of research on it, but i still dont fully understand it. look it up on google, there's a lot about it on wikipedia, erowid, and all over the place.  its actually a pretty interesting subject.  however, they did mention that this only occurs at very high doses of lsd (somewhere in the 15,000 microgram range) and, surprisingly, can also be caused by exorbitant amounts of THC (usually ingested as opposed to smoked)

    enjoy your trip man

  2. DRUGS ARE..............good. i got ya.

Never took the stuff.  It doesn't really effect your personality that much, I know a wide range of people who tried it, stoners, hip hoppers, and even cheerleaders. They all are about the same. Just experienced something i never have before.

  3. LSD and most psychedelics expand your mind, unless you have a really bad trip, you won't go insane. You might look at things differently or notice something you usually wouldn't notice. Sometimes you might get flashbacks but that's it. You're ego will stay the same

  4. i know a dude form my highschool that drove his truck when he thought he had come down from his high.. he is seriously mentally handicapped now because he ran thru a fence and into a house

  5. I did acid too many times to count in my youth, at least > 50 times.  Depending on the amount of micrograms you take, the drug can last up to 14 hours.  The place you take it should be both familiar and feel safe.  The reason is that it is very easy for someone to FREAK OUT and have a bad trip.  Also consider the source of the drug, because LSD is a street drug and unless you know the manufacturer you may not get what you think your getting.

If you have a bad trip, you could be  a real danger to yourself or others.  For example, people on acid have  run in front of cars when trying to get away from the tree that was chasing them.  Others have jumped off rooftops because they thought they could fly.  You could also be susceptible to having bad flashbacks for years after a bad trip.  That can happen just from trying the drug one time!  It is a very, very powerful drug.  It is  NOT ADDICTIVE, however if you’re one of the unlucky ones, it could have lasting bad effects.

Acid will magnify who you are, both good and bad, so any insecurities that you have will be magnified, so the experience is not dictated by where you are but by who you are.  You will probably see rainbow trails that follow everything that moves, there will be beautiful colors, walls may breath and there may be rich patterns and colors all around you.  Literally, it’s like being in a cartoon like world.  Inanimate objects may come to life.  Many people say it is a spiritual experience, where you bond with the universe and feel at one with God. Here is where the ego loss comes in if all is one then you are not a separate entity, hence no ego.  It could make you feel free and full of love for everything and everyone.  This is why in the 60’s the area called  Haight-Ashbury  in San Francisco was so famous.  Hippies were spreading the ideas of free love, and many a young searcher tried to find themselves there, unfortunately many were lost there too.  For many tripping can be a real h**l!  People you know get distorted by your imagination and become monsters or worse.  You could be easily influenced by strangers who mean you harm, then be taken advantage of robbed, etc.

If you are a strong, easy going person then you may be ok.  If you are weak, depressive, emotional, unreasonable, easily mislead,  then be ready to literally need or be needed as a babysitter.   Having someone level headed around to help can be a real benefit if things start to get too crazy.  If people are mean to you when you are high then the whole world becomes a very ugly place.  Conversely, if you are safe, happy, and secure you could be in for the ride of your life.

Once, I was at the movies,  a teen had dropped some acid and went to see a scary movie and really went nuts.  He was so freaked out the police and paramedics were called.  That just made him freak out more.  He was screaming at the top of his lungs and really believed someone was trying to kill him.  When I got there he was too freaked to help, the paramedics had to sedate him.  His Goth friends were all outside  and they were all so sad.  It’s so hard to see someone go through that. That was not a fun Saturday night for any of them!  Because you mind wont distinguish from fantasy/reality during a trip an unpleasant experience can cause permanent damage,

PTSD like effects.  The threat would be real to you and that is what matters when it comes to trauma.

Good luck! May your life be happy, enlightening, joyful, and fun.

  6. I don't understand that.  Maybe if the person did A LOT of it, I could see them being damaged.  I heard things when I was younger about people going on a constant "trip" because of LSD and they ended up being admitted.  I don't know how true it is.  I experimented with LSD when I was younger, I didn't like it, but nothing happened to me.
