Question:

A quick yes or no answer about a wedding gift

I was thinking of getting my friends (bride and groom) tickets for a 2hr private pottery class. I think being able to share an experience and make something together is very intimate. Especially when it is something they have made and can use throughout their life together.

What do you think? I'm also open for more suggestions

  1. No.  She'll probably like it, but unless you know he's into that sort of thing, he probably would not go... she'll end up asking a pal to go with her.

If you're looking for a twosome gift, how about a gift certif for a couples massage for after the wedding?

    Hope this helps!

  2. sounds good they'll like its not a typical gift and you put alot of thought into it

  3. Great idea! Certainly better than a gift which will be quickly forgotten after the ceremony.

  4. i think thats a great idea. once their finish then they have a memory of time spent together! i also like that idea because its really unique, something unforgetable

  5. No. Not unless they've expressed interest in doing arts and crafts together. The thought of giving them an activity together as opposed to a simple gift is a good one, but you're risking a really boring present if the guy is one of those men that does not want to spend two hours playing with clay.

  6. As a soon to be bride I think that is a GREAT idea!  It's different, it's not something that is going to take up space in their house, and it will be a great experience/memory.

Even though my fiance isn't really crafty and I am not into pottery I would LOVE if someone got that for us,  Just for the experience to try something new, that we definitely would choose ourselves!

    Great Gift Idea!

  7. yes

  8. as in throwing pots, and using the potters wheel?

my boyfriends a professional potter and it took him 2 years to just learn the basics..i think its a good idea of doing it if they are going to stick with it..but in two hours time hey aren't going to get much done, yes they will learn but wont perfect it at all..its a good idea, im just thinking it might be a waste of money though because they may not stick with it and wont fully grasp pottery in two hours. cute i idea though.

you can do it, but thats my take on it.. :)

  9. I like the idea!  If they're creative ppl and you know they'll appreciate the gift, go for it! It's very unique ... :)

  10. sounds cute to me!..maybe get a little something else too...something tangible

  11. Awww, that's so sweet. I think that they would love that.

    Go for it!!

    email me at

mav_lum@yahoo.ca and tell me how it goes!!

    Thanks!

  12. i would love that as a gift.

  13. No. Not unless they have expressed an interest in this kind of craft. Give them a night at a Bed and Breakfast or a dinner at an upscale restaurant.

  14. --If you know they both like creative things like pottery, it's a unique and good idea.

    --Here are some other suggestions:

    1. cooking class

    2. gift certificate to a nice restaurant

    3. a picnic basket with supplies (not food) for two people.  You could include plastic wine glasses, silverware, plates, a bottle of wine, etc.

    4. gift certificate for a wine tasting class

    5. pay for a couples dance class (or a group of dance classes depending on price)

--Good luck with your choice. I'm sure your friends will love whatever you choose!

  15. Are they crafty or artistic?  It's a very cute idea, but not everybody likes doing crafts or pottery. Some people love doing things with their hands, some hate it. My sister loves making her own mugs and plates, but I'd rather shoot myself in the foot than spend 2 hours making pottery and getting clay on my clothes.

If you aren't sure if they are crafty, get them an orthodox gift. A coffee mug set with nice assortment of coffees and teas, or a night at a B&B  conveys the same idea.

The idea is very adorable, and I actually might steal it and give gift certificates like that to my artistically inclined friends.

  16. NO, unless you know they both like that kind of crafty stuff...I would give them gift card for a spa/romantic hotel/ or maybe coocking class for 2/ or wine tasting dinner/ it all depends on how much you know them and if you know what they like doing on their spare time....
