Question:

A quiet revolt in the military?

From news stories and other bits and pieces I've noticed over the last year or two, including the 'accidental' nuke transport story last year, I'm tempted to think there is a quiet rebellion going on in the Pentagon against the White House. An under-the -radar palace revolt with top career military brass flat-out refusing Executive branch directives. CentCom Commander Fallon famously said that an attack on Iran wouldn't happen on 'His watch', an amazing statement for a serving officer. He soon retired, almost certainly under White House pressure. Other top military commanders have been outspoken on Admin. policy to a level I've never seen. Carrier groups are now gathering in the Gulf. Could a command to attack Iran lead to open rebellion, or has the revolt been crushed?

  1. Never happen - President IS the Command in Chief of the Armed Forces of the military and we all take an oath to protect this country against all enemies foreign and domestic.

So many righties and lefties here - are there any AMERICANS left here?

  2. That is plain silly!  A bit naive I think!  Mutiny is by death!  There are far more citizens than the servicemembers of the Armed Forces.  I would hope they'll execute the mutinees and fill in the vacancies to ensure our security of the nation.

  3. It's obvious you're a civilian who has been reading too many comics and playing too many games instead of learning about the REAL WORLD.

Thanks for the big laugh at your expense.

  4. You are not going to get any accurate answer from a Right Winger that never even suspected that Bush is an idiot. I only hope the Russians are smart enough to pause long enough for Bush to be retired back to his play room in Texas.

  5. If you've not seen it I recommend you watch the 1964 movie Seven Days In May.It's about a military coup in the United States. There were some people who maintained there was a secretive attempt at revolt by the military against Bill Clinton. As the theory goes,he found out about it and had the ringleaders murdered.By whom is not clear but that was suppose to be the explanation behind all of the "suicides" that occurred in the military during Clinton's time in office.

  6. I doubt there is any or ever will be a revolt unless the U.S turns communism or something horrendous. you know, people join the military to Defend the U.S. at all causes, not to get mad and try to turn it into what they want. besides, if someone did try a revolt, they wouldnt get far with our military force.

  7. I myself never thought about this but it would only be a conspiracy theory. Military personnel pretty much have to do what were told and if we decide as an individual that we dont want to do it our selves itll eventually ring ears up the ladder and a wtf eye-brow will definitely be raised. If there was a revolt its crushed, if there is going to be a revolt it will be crushed too. Think back when 12,000 civilian government air traffic controllers went on strike in 1981 I bet they didnt expect to get fired cause thats just what happened. They were easily replaced by military and other civilian air traffic controllers.

Simply put, the government will always find someone to do what they want, if one guy doesnt want to pull the trigger someone else will.

  8. You've been reading too many Tom Clancy novels, my friend.
