  1. nope. You're supposed to be watching so you can miss them.

    Unless they are travelling backward

  2. Its usually the vehicle that hits the rear of the other vehicle.

  3. Absolutely   NOT!!!

A  rear-end collison is usually the fault of the car in back,  the one that hit the car in front.    You see,   if they had been at a safe following distance and/or paying attention,   there would have been no collision in the first place.

  4. Wrong usually the hitter following too close  without due care and attention.

  5. Is the fault of the driver behind due to not paying attention and or following to close

  6. The car in the rear that actually DOES the hitting is at fault, usually.

In CT they call it "following too closely." Everywhere else they call it "tailgating."

  7. The one with damaged front is at fault.

One has to drive behind a car in front at a safe distance so  they can stop their car when needed. That's why the tailgating is dangerous because it usually leads to pile-ups....

  8. No, the usual at fault person in the one who rear ended the vehicle.

  9. usually the person behind that is at fault.  Unless you can prove, that being the operateve word, that he cut you off, ei witnesses, damage to side/front?

  10. with the insurance companies it is the car that hits that is held responsible in a rear-end collision, even if the car in front actually caused the accident. you always have to have control of yr car. the only time you are not at fault is if for example you are driving on a street with parked cars and some one in said parked car opens the door into traffic and you hit it. that happened to me.

  11. Wrong. It is always the fault of the rear ender, aka: the car in the back.

  12. Only if the car is backing up.

  13. It is always the fault of the rear car that is why insurance scammers developed the "swoop and squat" manuever.

It consists of the scammer swooping in front of a driver that looks like his car would be insured, and slamming on the brakes so that he is rear-ended. This creep will collect from the insurance company every time.

  14. i dont think so.its the car that rearended the the front car.

  15. no... according to the highway code and more importantly insurance companies consider the rear driver to be at fault because they should have been a safe distance away from the car in front to avoid an accident

so for example if a driver on a roundabout brakes suddenly to avoid a dog and the car behind collides with the car and then another car collides with the second,

the first driver is without fault and will have his car repaired by the second's insurance company

the second will have his repaired by the third driver but will have to pay for the repair for the first

the third driver will have to pay for the damage done to the second car.

    hope this helps

if you did/do rear end someone then get witnesses and take lots of photos and hand them to your insurance company

  16. Usually the car in the rear is liable

  17. The only time the car in front is at fault is if he is backing up and runs into the front of the car behind him.

ALL other rear end collisions are the fault of the car behind.

It is a driver's responsibility to be able to stop before hitting ANYTHING. You have to adjust your speed to account for all conditions to ensure you are able to stop before hitting anything in front of you.
