  1. check the website of www. ah.nl recepten. you find here orginal dutch cuisine recepis like "erwtensoep""(greenpeassoup?) or mashedpotatoes with carrots and onions it is called "hutspot"

  2. Look up Diana Kennedy's pork pibil recipe, it's online and it is heavenly. The recipe is Mexican. Diana Kennedy is the only foreigner who knows more about Mexican cuisine than most Mexicans.

    EDITED TO ADD A COMMENT.

Mintee is giving you the good ol' American interpretation of a taco. The recipe is ok for bland American tastes, but it is not a taco like the original Mexican at all.

  3. tacos...

this is the easiest thing possible

just fry up some ground beef, drain, add a few dashes of mexican chili powder, and youve got it

chop up some lettuce, tomato, onions, grate some chedder cheese,  get some sour cream and if your really adventurous, some quacomole... and taco shells. or soft tortillas to wrap it up in...

  4. Make nachos with tortilla chips and cheese. Or how about a hot dog? Preserved eel is not from the uk either. Salt your eel thoroughly and put it in a cool dry place for several months.

  5. here in holland we make a lot with potatoes and mix it all up

Kale, you cook kale for a long long time preferably with some big piece of baconin the bottom of pan, you mash the cooked Kale with boiled potatoes, cut the bacon in little pieces and fry those to crisp and add the bacon and the fat to the mash, make some nice gravy and voila, you have to eat it with smoked sausage, we call it Boerenkool met worst, do the same with sauerkraut.

also, get yourself some nice beef diced, let it simmer with loads of unions, bayleave, cloves pepper, salt and eat this with boiled potatoes, we call it hachee

another nice thing to do, andive(i think that is how you call it in english) them white things with light green ends, they grow underground, anyhow, you boil them tender in one piece, after they been dripped out after boiling, you role them up in ham and cheeze, put them in the over , crumble some bread crumbs over them and a piece of butter while in oven, eat with some mashed potatoes and gravey and it's sooooooo good.

  6. This one is Chinese

    Beef with Broccoli

(The secret to this popular restaurant dish is to marinate the beef in a bit of oil)

    Serves 3 to 4

    Ingredients:

3/4 lb (375 g) lean beef, sliced thinly into bite-sized pieces

    Marinade for Beef:

    1 egg

    1/3 tsp (1.5 mL) salt

1 Tbsp (15 mL) cooking wine

1 Tbsp (15 mL) cornstarch (corn flour)

    2 Tbsp water

    1 1/2 Tbsp (20 mL) oil

1 1/2 lb (750 g) broccoli, flowerets removed, slice on the diagonal into thin slices

1 cup (250 mL) cooking oil

    2 1/2 Tbsp (30 mL) oyster sauce

2 Tbsp (25 mL) light soy sauce

3/4 Tbsp (10 mL) dark soy sauce

    1 Tbsp (15 mL) sugar

a few drops of sesame oil

    2 cloves garlic, crushed

1/2 cup (125 mL) chicken broth

    2 Tbsp cornstarch (if desired)

    Directions:

Slice beef and mix together marinade ingredients. Add marinade to beef and marinate for thirty minutes. Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of oil to beef, mix in thoroughly, and marinate beef for another thirty minutes. While beef is marinating, prepare the vegetables.

Heat wok and add 1 cup of oil. When oil is ready, add beef and stir-fry until it is nearly cooked. Remove beef and set aside on a plate. Drain the wok and wipe clean with a paper towel.

Add 1/2 cup water to wok. Bring the water to a boil and add the broccoli. Cover and cook until broccoli is cooked through. Drain the wok.

Heat wok and add oil (about 2 tablespoons). Add the garlic and stir-fry for about 1 minute. Add vegetables and beef and mix together. Make a well in the middle of the wok and add the sauce ingredients. Add cornstarch, stirring to thicken. Mix sauce together with other ingredients. Serve hot.

    Variations

*Add carrots and onion if desired. Boil in the wok with the broccoli (you'll need to add more water).

    5. Turn the chicken in the marinade to ensure full coverage of the spices, then arrange the pieces in a pan for the oven or on the BBQ grill. With the remainder of the marinade, brush over the chicken. For a fuller flavour, brush with marinade each time you turn the chicken.
