A recipe for kosher dill pickles?

Question

I mostly just need to know what spices to put in, I don't have "pickling spices" on hand, but quite a few individual spices, herbs etc. I want specifically recipes for sour dill pickles and sweet relish, but no sweet pickles or bread & butters, thanks.

3 pounds 3 to 4 inch long pickling cucumbers

1-1/2 cups white vinegar

4-1/2 cups water

1/4 cup pickling salt

6 cloves garlic, peeled and halved

3 sprigs fresh dill weed

3 heads fresh dill weed
