I got my belly button pierced 2 months ago and like a couple of weeks ago a red bump formed around the top of the belly ring. Every once in a while it will bleed and a scab will form. My cousin got hers at the same time as me and hers did the same thing but hers is better now so im worried! Is it infected? Will it go away eventually?

  1. Yes, it will go away eventually if you take care of it. Clean it as often as you can with antibacterial soap and a wet Q-tip. Also, if you take something such as a small cup or shot glass and fill it with warm water and sea salt and carefully place it upside down on your belly button, the salt will slowly help the wound to heal correctly. It does take the belly button about 6 month (I believe) to COMPLETELY heal, so just clean it regularly and you should be fine.

  2. yes.it will go away, i had those more than once, just clean it better and more often. it happens to some people, its normal. dont be worried.

  3. This may be hypertrophic scarring which can occur if the piercing is irritated or has been bumped or tugged on. I am sure its not a keliod, keliods continue to grow and get bigger, they also are painful to the touch. Just make sure to cleanse the area w/ warm sea salt soaks atleast 3 times a day for 10-15 mins, you can also cleanse the area w/ antibacterial soap such as Dial, no more than once a day. Do not remove the jewelry or place any harsh chemicals on it such as alcohol, peroxide, bactine, neosporin, etc they can clog & dry out the piercing. The bump should get smaller and disappear just give it time. Navel piercings take btw 6-12 mons to completely heal, it may look heal on the outside but  may not be in the inside. Good Luck

  4. its not infectd unless it hurts really bad and pusses... it could be an ingrown hair or something....mine scabbed and stuff too... just wash it regularly

  5. it might, it might not--look up keloid scars. keloids come back over and over again.  also, try rinsing it 2 times a day-no more, with an antibacterial rinse. i think one is called bactrin--i can't remember, or something like that, or use johnson and johnson first aid rinse.
