A renowned Thoroughbred race horse Canford Cliffs has a full stop to his career
After three days when the great champion Frankel achieved success in the Group 1 QIPCO Sussex Stakes (British Champions' Series), held at Glorious Goodwood, in which Canford Cliff finished second, the Irish horse was declared as retired.
The bay colt son of Tagula out of Mrs. Marsh, was retired due to the injury he had in the last race, while he was chasing his contender, Frankel.
The champ is among those rare racing horses who have won numerous races throughout their career.
Trainer Richard Hannon’s Canford Cliff was foaled in 2007, the winner of the Coventry Stakes at Royale Ascot at the age of two.
His maiden was broken on 15th of May, 2009, in the Absolute Hospitality Maiden Stakes (Div I).
The famous Irish Thoroughbred was known for his outclass performance in the stakes races, of which one of the famous was the Coventry Stakes, where he gave an impressive performance and defeated a very tough contender, Xtension, by 6 lengths.
In 2010, Canford Cliff won the Irish 2000 Guineas under jockey Richard Hughes. He reached the wire in 1 minute and 37.88 seconds for owners, Heffer, Roy and Instance.
Cnaford Cliff has total 11 starts among which she has seven wins two seconds and two third positions. With her best performance she has total amount of £791,316 winnings and earnings are £951,724.
The four-year-old, has showed tremendous performances at the race course, Glorious Goodwood, where he was declared victorious in the Sussex Stakes held in 2010.
The colt gave a hit in the St’ James Palace Stakes held at Royal Ascot race course scheduled in the same year.
Although many times he had to face a major competition in the races, he has always given his best, and made his trainer and owners proud with his superb performances.
In 2011, when Canford cliff turned four, he returned back and won the Lockinge Stakes, along with that on the 14th of July, 2011, he gave a hit in the Queen Anne Stakes at the Royal Ascot race course.
The victory in this race was valuable for Canford Cliffs, due to the fact that he defeated 13 times winner, Goldikova.
After the announcement of the retirement on the 4th of July, 2011, it is decided that the legend will be standing at the Coolmore Stud located in Ireland.
Canford Cliffs will always be remembered as a unique and outclass Thoroughbred, he is bought by the bloodstock agent Peter Doyle, according to him Canford Cliff is a yearling with high qualities, great walk and constitution.
