A rifle is fired along a valley with parallel vertical walls. The echo from one wall is heard 2.3 s after the rifle was fired. The echo from the other wall is heard 2.3 s after the first echo. How wide is the valley?

  1. the speed of sound is 340.29 m/s, so from the first wall it would be 340.29(2.3), and from the second it would be 340.29(4.6), then just add them up to get 2348.001m or 2.348001km
