A role model for the youngsters, Ronnie O’Sullivan – Snooker
Ronnie O’Sullivan born on December 5, 1975 in Wordsley, West Midlands also known as ‘The Rocket’ due to the fast game that he always plays is a role model for the youngsters.
The way he has come up as a great player among the others is amazing as his father had a string of s*x shops, was convicted for a man’s murder in a fight, sent to the prison for the life and on the other hand his mother was also sentenced to life imprisonment.
Ronnie started playing snooker at an early age and showed people a great natural talent which he has. At the age of 12 he started going to the legendary snooker clubs, had defeated almost all comers and frightened the bookies too. He made his first
recognised 147 break at the age of 15. At the age of 17 he became the youngest winner to a world-ranking tournament.
The man who is now known as the ‘genius’ when it comes to snooker holds the record of making 10 maximum breaks in the game of snooker.
He is second in making the maximum century breaks and also in winning the all-time-prize-money list which is 6 million pounds, behind Steven Hendry.
Ronnie O’Sullivan has been admired by many people including his fellow professionals Steven Hendry and Steve Davis, as the most natural talented player ever seen in the game of snooker as of yet. As per the BBC, it has been said that it could be possible
that he might have a tag of the ‘greatest snooker player ever’ to his name later on.
Talent that he has is so certain that he has been observed playing equally good with the left hand as he plays with the right. At many occasions during the tournament matches he has played some difficult shots with his left hand and amazed people.
He also holds the record for making the fastest 147 break in the history of the snooker in 1997.
He is a player who often threatens to quit the game and pursue his interest somewhere else, has also been found doing some funny and frustrated things, during a few of his matches that he has played e.g. conceding a match to Hendry when the scores
were 4-1 and was fined for it. There was a time when he somehow got frustrated and was seen having a towel on his face while the game was still on.
He also holds the record of winning first 38 ranking frames on his way to the 1993 World Championship, where he was also found to be the second youngest player ever to qualify.
He became the youngest ever player to win a ranking tournament at the age of 17, after beating the Master Class Stephen Hendry 10-6 in the 1993 UK Championship. From then onwards he emerged as a real upcoming star, and finally he made it all legitimate
when he won the Embassy World Snooker Championship, where he had beaten John Higgins 18-14.
Apart from other tournaments, he has won three World Championships till now in 2001, 2004 and 2008.
Ronnie O’Sullivan is still having his prime going on, so assumptions can be made that there could be lot more winnings coming his way in the future.
