Women British Open
Jiyai Shin of South Korea carded an 8-under 64 to lead the Women British Open by four shots. Shin is recently coming from a playoff victory at Kingsmill Championship, so she is in good form and nick.
A fellow South Korean, Inbee Park was second after shooting four-under 68.
Jiyai Shin, who is a nine-time LPGA tour winner, was in super form as she had no problems in finding the greens in regulation.
All she had to do was to put 28 times to finish off her second round. 64 is the lowest round ever scored at Royal Liverpool, she beat the score of 65 which was set six years ago.
“A bogey-free day and then bunker-free, too, so that was probably the best round I have ever played in a major,” Shin said.
“So that is a good thing, today’s golf. I missed just one fairway. And on the back nine, it’s blowing very strong wind, but I just stay focused on my tempo and my timing with my driver and shots”.
Karrie Webb of Australia was at the third place, and a stroke behind Inbee, after shooting a 70. Karrie is the three-time winner of the tournament. She won this tournament in 1995, 1997 and 2002.
“I’m surprised to be six shots behind at 3 under,” Webb said. “But I’m happy with the way I played and handled the golf course. I’ll just try to narrow the gap and see how it goes”.
The play had to be called off due to bad weather and, as a result, some of the players could not complete their rounds. They will resume tomorrow.
Champions Tour
Bill Glasson is all set to secure his first Champions tour victory after he moved to the first place. Bill shot a magnificent 7-under 65 to take a four shot lead in the inaugural Hawaii Championship. With just one round to go and a four-shot lead, all is
in Glasson’s hand.
Glasson has had an injury plagued career, during which, he has had around 20 surgeries. Bill is a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour though.
