A see-saw game witnesses Mike Fisher notch up the win for the Predators – NHL Playoffs
This Sunday, the Nashville Predators hosted the Anaheim Ducks in the third game of the series at the Bridgestone Arena, which was won by the Predators 4-3 in the end. The previous two games were very competitive and this one was expected to reach the same level. The Predators were already victorious in the game on away ice and with another win this time; they found themselves into a 2-1 lead in the series.
The Predators were superb in the opening period to say the least, and used the home ice to their advantage. They constructed some brilliant plays and got near the goal on several occasions. The Predators became stronger in the middle part of the period and successfully scored two goals in quick succession. The second period was productive in terms of goal attempts for the Predators, but this time it was the Ducks who were on target. They scored twice in later stages of the game to level the scores. The final period saw both teams making shots on goal right from the start. This resulted in them scoring a goal each to keep things on level terms. However, the Predators scored once again to win the game 4-3 in the end. Mike Fisher, of the Predators was named the star of the game as he scored the winning goal.
The Ducks came up with a few shots early on but once the Predators started, there was not stopping them. Their defence, offence, and play-making were all brilliant. The Predators were certainly on top of the game and came across a power-play in the middle part of the period.
They piled up quite a few shots on goal before they finally managed to score in the 16th minute through Martin Erat to get into the lead. The Predators were absolutely dazzling on the offence and scored once again through Jordin Tootoo in the same minute to double the advantage.
The period ended with the Predators leading 2-0 as they made 12 shots on goal, while the Ducks made four shots on goal.
The Predators were on top of the game once again as they made several shots on goal. However, this time they were unsuccessful in scoring. The Ducks on the other hand were advantageous in scoring two goals in the 19th minute to level the scores.
Both goals were scored by Teemu Selanne from two splendid flick shots. The period ended with the scores level on 2-2 with the Ducks making six shots on goal, while the Predators made 15 shots on goal.
Both teams made a decent start to the final period with the Predators scoring through David Legwand to get into the lead. However, the Ducks scored in the next minute to level the scores with Matt Beleskey scoring from a brilliant tip in shot.
Fortunately, the Predators won the game as Mike Fisher scored the winning goal in the 11th minute from a well placed flick shot. In the end, the Predators won the game 4-3 and took the lead in the series.
