  1. 10 Stupid Things Women do to Mess up Their Lives- Dr. Laura

  2. I would search for one on Amazon, Borders, or Barnes & Noble websites.

  3. I would have her read "Co-dependent No More" by Melanie Beady.

  4. http://www.amazon.com

There are, as you can imagine, a boatload of self-help books to be seen through the link above.

I picked these out from the first page only (there are over 30,000), for which I only specified 'confidence, self-help.'

--Five Simple Steps to Emotional Healing: The Last Self-Help Book You'll Ever Need by Gloria Arenson, '01, many top reviews.

--Get Out of Your Own Way: Overcoming Self-Defeating Behavior by Mark Goulston and Philip Goldberg, '96, also many top reviews.

--Recovery of Your Self-Esteem: A Guide for Women by Carolyn Hillman, '92, good reviews

--Self-Help Stuff That Works by Adam Khan, '99, many top reviews

These give you an idea of what I see there. Of course you do not need to buy from Amazon, simply take a note of any title (and author) you think may be good. Then shop wherever you like.

    Best of luck.
