  1. 1. Staff

    2. possibly the stick

    3. Again the stick

    4. The stick.  It's easiest thing to find, a pool cue, a broom handle, a walking stick...things you can find anywhere and are NOT ILLEGAL to carry.

  2. 1 staff or stick, or possibly a wooden training sword.  there is too much risk for potential damage with a live blade

2 seeing how I study aikido I've learnt empty handed techniques that are derived from both, I have seen that both weapons can be easily transferred to the empty han.

3 no weapon is "easy to use" learning to use and effectively control a weapon is a study that takes years  there's just so much going on beneath the surface that makes using weapons not as simple as it seems.

4 the sword mainly because of my fascination with the artisanal making and perfecting of the weapon.  Plus the fact that it is such beautiful yet deadly efficient tool.

  3. 1. staff - u r not skilled enough in the beginning and could get cut with the sword

    2. Well its a very bad idea to think of applying same techniques /concepts for a weapon and empty hand. However I can think of short stick and kubotan.

3.Easily accessible day to day objects. Pen, Newspaper or umbrella.

For real weapons I would say Staff.

    4. Tonfa. Up to now, I'm quite happy with it but against some more dangerous weapons such as sword I would look for a more lethal alternative.

  4. 1 - Staff, of the two choices.  Reason being, you can usually find something on the street that would at least simulate a staff.  However, I would add Escrima/Kali sticks, as you can find something that would simmulate these more often than not.

2- Kali is both an empty hand and armed style.  All moves can be done with or without a weapon.

3- Simplest - probably a bat (or the like).  All you have to do is swing.

4- My preferred weapon right now is my Bo.  But it is only what I compete with.  I'd much prefer to use the most important weapon on the street - my brain.

  5. 1.   Staff or sword, because when you are sufficiently experienced; your weapon (whatever it is) should simply be an extension of your arm.

You are unlikely to cut yourself with a sword because in iaido, for instance, you begin 'sword' training with a wooden sword (bokuto) and when you progress to using a metal 'sword', these training swords are unsharpened.  (Unless you're yondan or higher).

    2.  Personally, I believe that empty hand is what it is - 'empty' hand no weapon.  Your 'weapon' is your hand, foot, elbow ...

    3.  I think that whichever weapon you are most comfortable with using is the 'simplest' to use.

    4.  My preferred weapon is the jo-staff because it is roughly the same length as a broom-stick, thus versatile and easy to substitute.

I really love iaido (Japanese sword-drawing art) because I enjoy the spirituality.  The deeper emphasis behind our training is to cultivate a calm spirit, so that both physical and mental obstacles can be overcome peacefully and in a relaxed manner.

  6. Nunchaku
