Question:

A serious question, no sarcasm intended...?

Can someone please list the "religions" people follow that have no god, no goddess, no supreme being, no deity of any kind?

I've seen reference to these mystery religions mentioned several times in this category, and I've seen others wonder the same thing (that I am wondering), but I haven't seen anyone mention any specific religion or spirituality that fits that bill.

I honestly can't think of any spiritual path or religion that doesn't acknowledge *any* form of deity..... which one(s) am I missing?

  1. Well, you can be a Jew without believing in the Jewish god, believe it or not. It's more like tradition.

  2. atheism which is not technically a religion

  3. Buddhism.

    And Some forms of Paganism.

Nope, in fact, Buddhism discourages the belief in a deity.

I should know, I used to be a Buddhist.

  4. Buddhism.  The Buddha was not a god.

  5. Animists, but Animism isn't a religion.

It is a spiritual path that doesn't acknowledge a Deity.

  6. Discordianism (wiki it), Dudeism, Taoism, Buddhism, forms of Paganism.

  7. Buddhists

  8. The Unitarian Universalists are a religion that believe in the unification of all humanity without a commitment to any specific supreme entity. They encourage the right and responsibility of each individual to establish their own unique belief system while gathering to exchange energies in the interconnected web of life.

  9. Hmm... Buddhism, Pantheism and LaVeyan Satanism.

  10. I think maybe Druids?

  11. Buddhism

    Several forms of Paganism

    Taoism

You additional details conflict with your original question.  You asked "no deity of any kind" and Buddhism counts.  Believing the universe is one does not a deity make.

  12. Budhism, maybe Paganism... do Aetheists count? Because they really don't believe in anything but isn't that what you're asking?

  13. Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism (although some Taoists believe in G-ds), Confucianism, Satanism (Anton LeVey Satanism) and oddly, I would put radical Atheism as one. Many radical atheists have simply replaced belief in G-d with rabid evangelical lack of believe in G-d. I do relalize that is a stretch though.

There were also some native American/Australian groups that had nature as their central belief and not a central diety of any kind. I do not know if they even exist in the same form as they used to or not.
