A silly question perhaps, but?

Can I take cuttings from a rose bush with me when I move to Canada from the UK?

The rose bush belonged to my late mother and I'd like to put it on my father's grave in Canada.

  1. No, sorry. You can't even bring soils or fertilizers from country to country let alone plants.

  2. You should inquire with customs in your country.  While you won't be able to simply bring them on the plane with you, there may be a way to have them tested for diseases and shipped to Canada.  It will likely cost a bit and involve some red tape, but it's a noble thing to do so it might be worth it to you.

  3. You can't take plant out of the UK at all, as they sometimes are carrier of diseases.

  4. Here is a link to the Inspection Agency involved.  I am leaning towards you can, but there can be some hassles involved.  Here is a table, and I went and looked under Roses.  Then a big long document is linked from there.  Also contact information to discuss it further.
