In Chinua Achebe's short fiction "Why the Tortoise's Shell is Not Smooth", the Tortoise says to his bird friends, "I am a changed man. I have learned that a man who makes trouble for others is also making it for himself." He later then uses his cunning and tricks the birds, thus making trouble for them. Is this an example of hypocrisy? If not, what is it an example of?
