If I had two samurai's on my field and one of them is Irou. Irou's effect says that if this card attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, destroy the monster immediately with this card’s effect without flipping it face-up. If I attack a facedown Giant rat or a Masked dragon. Does the Giant rat or Masked dragon get their effects or do they go to the graveyard facedown and their effects are negated?

  1. "Giant Rat" and "Masked Dragon" say they only get their effects when destroyed BY BATTLE. Since Irou, destroys the monster with its effect, the effects of "Giant Rat" and "Masked Dragon" are not activated.

  2. what the other guys said!!

  3. Hello. Irou states that if he attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, it is sent to the Graveyard without flipping face-up or applying Damage calculation. Since Giant Rat's effect occurs during the Damage Step, Irou negates all Battle Damage from that attack, and thus Giant Rat's effect no longer applies. This rule applies to all the other Recruiter monsters ( Shining Angel, Masked Dragon, etc.) except Sangan, who's effect is activated when it is sent to the Graveyard in any way.

This was a TOUGH queation indeed. Hope my answer helps!!!
