A snowflake has nothing to do with a mermaid,does it?

Well, it could. You just have to be inventive.

What if the mermaid surfaced during a blizzard?

Or it snowed so much that the ocean froze over?

Or perhaps a mermaid discovers a snowflake that refuses to melt, even under water, and uses it and it's magical powers to wreck havoc on the rest of the undersea community?

See, just a little creativity can connect the two.

Beyond the fact that snowflakes contribute to the water table, and mermaids live in water, I would, after much thought, have to say no. Ask your friend if urban gardens provide pixie habitat. I've often wondered.
