A solution contains 100mg/mL of a drug, and the recomended dose is 50 mg/lb once a day.?

How much solution would be needed for one dose to be administered to a 20 kg patient?

If it's possible can u show me how did u do this problem.

P.S. And please save your comments about how I'm trying to get people to do my h/w b/c I am trying hard to understand this math. thx.

  1. Convert 20 kg to lbs (2.2 lb per kg)  so the patient is 44 lbs.

    the drug should be given at 50mg per lb so:

    50 mg/lb * 44lb = 2200mg should be given

    The solution is 100 mg/ml so:

    2200mg/100mg/ml = 22ml of solution


  2. (50 mg/ 1 lb) * (2.2 lb/1 kg) * 20 kg = mg needed

    100 mg/mL / previous answer = number of mL needed
